shucks, but fantastic to have gotten an interview!

It seldom does. I took that photo on July 29th, 2009, which is the hottest day in Seattle's recorded history. Average summer temps are in the mid-70s.

Moving a lot in this time frame (2008 to present) or any time frame where there's been significant and well known economic turbulence isn't too much of an issue for most hiring managers. If it develops as a long term history is when it starts to become an issue.
For our industry/business where it takes even a highly experienced individual 4-6 months to be fully productive, a history of moving every year is a yellow flag and depending on reasons a red flag.

Knew it was coming up Kenny but didn't realize it was today. Disappointing you didn't get the job, but now you've got a roadmap on how to get in there. You can start looking for work at a foreign car parts store which could then get you behind the counter at a dealership, which could get you into Turner.

My TomTom underwent surgery today to replace the battery.
All went well, and it got a map update. Thing is from 06 and still works well.

Daughter turned 2 months old last week! Finally got her picture all edited...

HALP!!

Guys, I need insight into clutches..... How much would it suck to have a Stage 4, 6 puck clutch in my DD?

I found this, and I want to grab it ASAP if it wouldn't be too unbearable.... http://milwaukee.craigslist.org/pts/3584933607.html

money talks, but what is it *saying*?? i agree with your idea to see what the current employer can come to the table with. sometimes a bird in the hand means a better negotiating position.

ken, sorry the interview didn't get you the job, but you did manage to get some insight on the skills necessary to get in at a later time. everything is a learning experience, and the better candidates take full advantage of the interview experience.

i had interviewed a little bit ago for another position in the office. it was a sales position, which i wasn't exactly 100% gung-ho about, but i did realize it was an oportunity that came up that could allow me to position myself better to actually wind up landing a district manager position. (not so much a technical position, but a p&l/sales projections and budgeting overseer).

while i had the qualifications for the position, the salary needs could not be massaged into what the management team felt would be fair for me to be able to take on this position. it turned out that i would have to take about a 20% paycut to fill the position, and the regional manager didn't like that idea.

that being said, there are always new positions available, and should one pop up in the technical department, i am pretty much on the short list for the nomination. had i not interviewed for the sales position i would not have been able to position myself to where i am now.

so we'll see what the future has in store....

depends on how much traffic you sit in....most puck style clutch set ups tend to be better suited for track applications.

not very familiar with them myself, as i haven't driven one, but if you do get it, everyone i know that has had one (regardless of vehicle) has had to 're-learn' how to drive a manual and get the clutch engagement down pat to reduce stalling/chatter.

for the money, though, i would probably jump on it, then figure out what to do with it. even if it means flipping it later on.

You a Bruins fan? The Red Wings have been my team since I started watching hockey 1993. Thank Steve Yzerman for that, he was a class act and hard to pull against, so I became an SC native Red Wings fan. Our minor league team is a Bruins affiliate though.

Got this baby in the mail today. A fellow BMWCCA club member had a handful of them sitting around (brand new, in plastic wrapper), and he wanted to offload them for $10/ea. They're normally around $70. It's a book produced by BMW, and it's the entire history of BMW touring & sports car racing, filled with 385 pages of incredible photos and stories. Crazy high-quality hardcover... So geeked to add it to my library.

For Ken Sr.:

Even has its own part number...

Wow, that looks like a great read...

Reminds me of a book I scooped up some years ago about Iraq. Big hardcover like that, but all about the war. More/less pictures with subtle descriptions of what each one is though. Really is interesting to page through...

Stages and pucks are completely dependent on the company and car. Is it feramic, ceramic, ect?

What torque is it rated for? More than likely its not too terribly aggressive or hard to drive. Get some more info.

Modern electronics have made me the laziest person in the world. For years I spent entirely too much time derping around on the 'puter, and then I got a laptop (from Amber) and wouldn't get up and walk ten steps to my desktop to browse. I thought that was bad. Then last year I got my smart phone and I don't even pick up the laptop 2 feet away. I pull out the cell phone and browse and post. If they come up with implanted smart phones, I won't have to even sit up. Just kick back in the Lazy Boy (how appropriate) and waste hours cruising the 'Net without moving.

Sad, I'll tell you. Just plain sad.
