Ken, when I had a wheel bearing replaced to my 318 a few years ago it cost $246 parts, labor, and tax at a very good indy Euro shop.

I didn't buy that 3.23LSD because it had unknown mileage, from a relatively unknown buyer, and was coming from a boosted car, and he was selling it to upgrade to a large case diff from a 7-Series, which suggested to me that he beats on things. $200 for a 3.23LSD was pretty hard to pass up, but when it comes to something like a diff, I want it to be of known quality rather than a guessing game.

I remember that particular diff was a no-go, but just wanted to make sure a new diff was still high on the wishlist. The bimmer gods ought to gift you a nice deal on a fully-functional LSD.

I am in shock.......
After working on Eddie's '84 633CSi from October to now, he announced yesterday that he was tired of it. Tired of putting money into it, tired of something always going wrong (although it's down to just simple, non-critical stuff now). He said he doesn't want it..... So he's GIVING it to me. I know he spent $750 to buy it (I was there), and well over $3000 in the last 5 months for new parts and upgrades (I made up the parts lists and he had them sent here). Entire suspension replaced, new injectors, every coolant, fuel and vacuum hose replaced, water pump, thermostat, distributor, plugs and plug wires, cold start injector, fuel pressure regulator and a massive number of other parts replaced. It runs like a very torque-y sewing machine, drives great, sounds wonderful. I encouraged him to just sell it and use the proceeds to fund the rest of his E30 project. His answer was I had done all that work on the 6er and I deserved it. He's bringing the title and tag receipt tomorrow. I guess I own TWO E24s now.

I got a reply back from the guy with the Borla exhaust a few minutes ago. He said $350, but there is a guy coming to look at it on Friday, and the soonest I will be available is Saturday. I told him to let me know if the other person falls through, but I imagine it will be gone... ![]() EDIT: Congrats Ken! Eddie sounds like a true friend, and those are hard to come by. You deserve it! PS: will you have to apply for special permits now that your BMW farm is entering the next level?

I love the Borla exhausts. The only system that speaks it's name every time you start it up.

Thanks! She needs a paint job something awful, but I couldn't be more proud. Her name is Sylvia, which is kind of a joke......it's Eddie's first wife's name, a redhead that caused him all kinds of grief. Edit: Forgot to add that Amber thinks the gift of the car was Eddie's plan all along. It would be just like him....

![]() Oh, and Karl, you are right about Trader Joes. Their Irish Breakfast tea is the same quality, miles better than just about any producer you can find in local supermarkets.

Congrats Ken that's awesome!
In my senior year of college a friend GAVE me a motorcycle. Granted it was in boxes, but still, I was completely floored when he offered. In 10 years I'll pay it forward by off loading some project on an unexpecting college student. I just ordered a 7" orbital polisher off of Amazon. I've wanted one for years but never wanted to make the investment. I didn't have any luck turning up one to borrow this weekend to polish out the VW, so I just pulled the trigger. I got a no-name polisher that got good reviews on amazon, a foam polishing pad, foam finishing pad, rubbing compound and finishing compound for $117. I should've gotten two of each pad but I'm being a cheapass lately, for now I'll just wash them between cars. So this weekend I'm going to do a complete detail on the GTI, and I might try to do an exterior detail on the E39, or at least polish the headlights.
