Sap indeed, James. Do you need a private room?

Congratulate the man. But let's keep it strictly platonic here.

Congrats Jared. Told you you'd kill it!

Morning all. I leave today for my HPDE training weekend. Super excited. Need to pack after work (got busy this week @ work) but I should be able to leave by 8pm (avoid the crushing early long weekend rush after work) and be @ the cheap and gorgeous B&B (http://www.blackswaninn.net/) in NH by 10pm.

Yay :-)

EDIT: Jared, glad to hear the interview went well. Keeping fingers crossed. IIRC, there is a guy (Bowmang)on the Bimmerforums OT that works for Tesla, in Finance. You may want to chat with him to get some 'behind the curtains' information. He seems like a pretty decent guy, at least in the web world.

Once your mentality changed after Areva (AKA where great minds go to die), I really saw a spark in you and knew that you can literally do almost anything you put your mind to.

Guess Tesla doesn't seem so out-of-reach anymore, does it?

I'm so stoked for you buddy. Here's to many more years, no matter where life takes us all!

Nice dude! So you worked for areva? My new boss worked there, he was some big time east coast manager. Really nice guy.

I got 3 letters in the mail from police departments. The one I got yesterday already has me scheduled for an interview Nov. 4th.

Does this mean you are moving to Utah or do you and your wife have to have "a talk"?

Grr....I am working with a relatively new associate in our practice, and I am frustrated. She's a year in, but comes into the client at 9am (when the client is here by 8 or 8:30), didn't have a notepad to take notes (and she was planning to take notes manually, something that just isn't done anymore as everything would need to be transcribed), some things I have asked her to do are sometimes done inconsistently, and yesterday, she was texting when I was trying to show her stuff. When I told her that we need to adjust our arrival schedule to meet the client's culture (often 9 in NY/LA, but 8am in the Midwest) she sorta looked surprised. And when I asked her to set up 5pm status update meetings (not ideal but my team is now working on other clients and we are having lots of scheduling issues)...she said I was being harsh.

Maybe I am not used to dealing with newbies any more. I hate picking on her for little things, but she has to realize consulting is not a typical 9 to 5 gig.

EDIT: She a nice girl and seems willing to learn, but she doesn't seem to be as driven/detail oriented as some of our other newbies. Makes me frustrated. I don't think she'll last more than a couple of years here.

Good morning everyone! Taking the work day off tomorrow to replace the axle in Ashlin's X5 and hopefully putting the brake lines on the e30. Have a busy weekend so had to take tomorrow off or I wouldn't be getting anything done this weekend.

@ Jen, I feel you 'cept, now I'm the n00b and mine own cousin is my mentor! (and I'm typically awake and out the door 3 hours before he gets out of bed).

@CJ, this job is perfect for me! Just the right mix of tech work, hands on fixing, troubleshooting, talking to new people daily, and driving. Plus the salary... well, lets just say the average household income in Fort McMurray is $189k...

I should mention that this place also has the highest cost of living in North America. Higher than Manhattan, higher than anywhere is Cali.

Re: The official E36 OT Thread!!

Jen, I take it she's a young girl? From what I've been reading, you're going to have to get used to dealing with that kind of person. I think there a lot of kids my age that were completely coddled by their parents and aren't used to having to do any real work and expect the world to revolve around them.

I don't I think it's a lost cause, but you're probably going to have to work hard to break her out of her habits.

Howdy all...Thought this might be a good time / place to drop in and say...

I'm the super mod who deleted all the tags from this thread recently.

Now, hear me out first before you all jump down my throat, because I like you E36 guys

I had noticed a while ago that, when I browse the 'fest at my work place, the particular browser / computer combo results in unresolved graphics that show up as "tags" on my display. Now, this would not really be a problem, however a few members had decided to go beyond say, PG-13, and had entered tags that were decidedly innappropriate, i.e. R or even X-rated.

So this was a problem. As a supermod, I'm pretty much a go along to get along type. Had it been confined to the E36 forum, and in particular, to this thread, it would never have come to my attention. However, with these highly innappropriate tags showing publicly in the thread, I removed them.

Now, no issues in the tagging of this thread continuing, ya'll keep going right ahead and have fun. Just try and keep it (more or less) between the navigational beacons, as Jimmy Buffet might say.

Thanks!

Rich

Hey Rich - thanks for the note. I agree, better not to have NSFW tags.

Congrats Ed! Welcome to the high cash-flow lifestyle. Paychecks come in, nausea-inducing rent/utilities go out.

Also the median household income of Fairfax is only $120k. It feels like the ghetto now, thanks for that.
