About the (gag)Prius...
By the time the vehicle is assembled and arrives stateside, it's carbon footprint is already the size of owning a... Range Rover Discovery for a year. Nickel mining is a horrid thing.

Also, those EPA fuel estimates are based off of carbon emissions, not actual fuel consumption. They put a sensor in the tail pipe, never look at the gas gauge. Also, the tests are done in a lab on a dynamometer... that means it's indoors with a professional driver. Also, those numbers are provided by the auto maker, and not by the EPA - they only acutally test a handful of cars at random.

If you want a fuel efficient car... get a diesel.

HowStuffWorks.com did a great article on hyper-mile-ing. Also, Top Gear did a lovely bit on the Prius, as did Jeremy Clarkson in his movie "The Good, Bad, and the Ugly." Check it out on youtube, it's his tour-de-force of American cars, great fun. He off-road tests the Range Rover against the H2 and Cadillac Escalade, as well as touches on the Prius, Viper, 'Vette, Mustang, etc. He speaks about the Prius only to mention how Americans feel the need to be obviously ambiguous about saving the planet

But yes, the Prius is only good for the consumer, not the environment.

And back on the subject of smart car vs prius.... What you forgot to include is the price difference (duh!). The smart car is nearly half the price right off the bat of the prius. So you save half the cost right there . Idk how you fayled to mention that

about the prius... we had one in the shop the other day doing an alignment on the car.

the rear camber on the car is set for best gas mileage... less drag amounts on the car.... yet the rear wheels will have to be replaced more



so save the gas money and buy tires more often go ahead....


and this is confirmed by me in the shop, not some joe smoe making something up...

Nobody mentioned the cost of replacing the nickel-hydride batteries when they run out of life, or the environmental impact those batteries will make when they are disposed of.

update for you...Jag is gone, e34 is a 530i not even a M5 it .still sucks. and amber is not decided yet.... she went from bolt pattern to size to style then she has to repeat the process 100 times to make sure its right.... so check back in like 6months to a year she should have them
