E82 / E88 1 Series (2008 - 2013)
BMWs throw back to the iconic 2002, with a renewed form and function. The smallest car in BMW's line up but still packs a punch. Available in coupe or convertible, powered by either an inline 6 in the 128 or the twin turbo rocket sled 135.

Hey everyone, having some fun with my car today... I was totally bored. I'm in Cleveland, so it's easy to be like that!

I grew up in Cleveland, and I recognize every landmark in your pics. What a horrible place! I'm so glad I left in my 20s.

Image #3 is absolutely stunning! Please get bored again soon!

What software did you use for HDR? I'd like to try my hand at it, if possible without the behemoth that is Photoshop...

Good stuff, kid. The plug-ugliness of the 1er really works in those citiscapes. Welcome to the 'fest & thanks for sharing!

Agree, great pics.

A question for all of you that make posts like this (and there seem to be many of you). If you don't like the 1, and think it's ugly, why do you hang out in this forum? I think anyone that owns a 1 knows that it isn't the most beautiful car, and I haven't seen anyone in here claiming otherwise, so why do so many in here seem to need to offer unsolicited criticism of the car's looks over, and over, and over again?

Just trying to understand, thanks.

Because I keep hoping that it will grow on me.

If I were to buy another Bimmer, it would be a 1er ... I took a 128i auto for a spin a while back while our E92 was in for service, and enjoyed it very much. Perfect size, plenty of zip (and I would figure even nicer in that dept with the MT.)

But it's hard for me to get past the excessively stubby styling, and especially the saggy sides. The vert with top down (which is how mine would be, most of the time) provides the least objectionable looks.

I know the argument that, who cares how the thing looks, if you're inside of it having fun. I guess by that token, why bother washing it.

Maybe at the next 1er refresh ('12?) I'll be ready to take the plunge & trade in the then 9-year-old A4. Or, who knows, maybe I won't have to wait so long, if you unabashed 1 fans can convince me to ignore the evidence of my eyes.

The biggest criticism is surely most commonly the snub nose and bulging headlights, but wait, whats that, anyone else noticing this to be a trend - new 7, 5series GT, X1.... they're all a bit or alot prettier but the design concept started here....

Just like the 03 Z4 and 7series, they didnt quite get it right, but they created a new design direction.

ZINGER!

I use a Canon digital camera... take three exposures... and use this software program to tweak the images. Not very complex, so no 500 page Photoshop manual is necessary

In terms of people not liking the look of the 1-series... I still don't get it. I think the car is very unique and very stylish... well, maybe that's why I bought it!
