If your sunroof isn't closing or working properly, you can reset it by pushing up and holding down the button to vent (not open or close) position. Push the vent button and hold it. The vent will go up again and holding it down will make the sunroof open and close all the way so the system will then relearn the travel limits. Let go of the button when all movement is done.

When the drivers door is open, the car will not go into drive, or reverse.
large yellow exclaim point comes up and it gongs. Not sure if this is the case with any othe doors, but plan to try them also. This could be a pain at some point, but it's a safety thing I like. |

This only worked in older versions of the car software. Now this process brings up a menu with lots of mostly-undecipherable information, but no longer can tell you what overall vehicle software version you have installed.

That NOT having it for a while makes you want it even more
Especially when it's in getting CPO'd and Dinan Software Stage II'd.
The 128 loaner is nice and all, but... I'm so excited, that I just can't hide it. |

$2k for the dinan stage 2. I had leased the car for 24 months with the intent of leasing a new 5 series, but the residuals got whacked so hard that leasing even a 2010 with the same options would cost me about $250 more a month. So, I decided that instead I'd buy my own car and do the dinan software (and probably later the exhaust), since I do like my car and wouldn't spend the money on the upgrade for a lease.

The fob battery is rechargeable, charges when inserted in ignition.

If you don't want the overhead light (above the rear view mirror) to turn on when you open the doors just press and hold the on/off light button for 5 second or so, it will deactivate the auto light on feature. it will stay off till you manually turn the light on again than the feature will be avtivated again.

![]() ![]() This takes me back. In general 'progman' stands for program manager. Back in the early '90s, our office was a pilot office for the roll out of LANs. People had no idea what it was all about, but, I got training in networking and was the lead management person in charge of it. Anyway, one of the errors came on the screen and it referred to something about 'progman' doing something. Lots of people thought it was talking about me, so they started calling me 'progman'. You must understand that this was the beginnings of LAN introduction in a widespread way, and many employees did not even have PCs at home, and were not allowed to use the two or three PCs we had had in the office.

Ain't that the truth! We have 2 BMW's and a bunch of vettes so sometimes my 525i doesn't get driven for a while. Now I keep it on a trickle charge!

With the warmer weather appearing, I really enjoy the window open feature.
You just hold down the unlock button on either the key type or fob and the windows and sunroof will open, however you can stop it at a "crack". I crack open my windows a couple of inches and stop. I do it from my front door. The best part is that after a few seconds if you dont open any doors, it will lock itself. Too bad they dont close remotely . |

I have comfort access and if I leave my finger on the lock spot, the windows will close. The not closing by remote is a safety feature as you could pinch someone's finger/arm etc. from far away. None of the BMW's I've owned have had remote close. My Z had remote roof open as well!

I have a 12 V accessory outlet in the passenger footwell. I was vacuuming the car today and saw it tucked way up under above where the passenger's toes might be if they were sitting up straight. I would have expected it to be on the left side where the net is, and so I assumed that I did not have this outlet. Wish I had know this when I was using an XM Skydock. Still it's a nice thing to know. I can't believe I've had the car for 6 months and just discovered this now.

I wonder if that outlet is operational when the car is parked.

The cigarette lighter is not. I would assume the others work the same way. There's one in the trunk, and two behind the center console. They do seem less than useful if the key is required for power imo.

My 2007 has the glovebox flashlight power socket. I use that line to charge my cellphone when the car is parked. It's operative 24/7.

Doesn't that require an adaptor to use the 12V power for something other than the flashlight?
