Yes, but it's not all that expensive.

I figured that. Thanks for the info. Does the glovebox have to remain open to use the outlet?

Polk... you did a good thing with this thread. It is now rated at 5-star and may soon become "sticky-able."

No, it's always powered. The purpose of the socket is to keep the flashlight charged.

Unfortunately, newer BMWs don't have the socket, and have no means for charging a cell phone when the car is parked.

I don't have Comfort Access and you can start the car without the key. You do have to put the key in first then take it out before doing this though.

what is missing ...

After everything that was posted and said here, there is very little to add about all the different features you will find in your BMW.
The items that brought my attention, though, are the common things you find in many other cars that I could not find in my BMW (or are not as good as they should be):
- sun glasses storage unit;
- coin holder;
- decent cup holders;
- a way to "turn off" the radio (not 'mute' it);
- a way to "turn off" the LCD screen (not a 'blank screen').

Cupholder---A BMW standard feature in sedans,
Coin Holder---See above

I didn't know you couldn't turn off the radio. If it's muted it's off. If you have entertainment up on the screen you see that it's muted,otherwise you don't know that it's either muted or off.
Why would you want to turn off the screen? I think dimming it is sufficient

CA lock

Did you guys know if you have CA that the car locks when you touch the key hole with your finger?

Also on my white 535i has 2 different wood panels? Mine has light poplar on the dash and the panel around the shifter is darker. (my wife saw it right away) Since I thought it was odd I was able to confirm via pictures of cars selling on the net.

I'm pretty sure there's a "display off" option in the settings menu. Nav shouldn't make a difference.

Mercedes has that feature as well. You can pretty much drive without using the pedals. It can be fun.

The cd button on the steering wheel will turn the radio on, mute the radio or access the cd player. If you program your presets, you never have to take your hands off the wheel to work the radio.

I get the part about the programmable buttons, but I don't know what you mean about "access[ing] the cd player."

I have one button dedicated to "mute", which is an on/off switch of sources. Nothing, however, lets me select CD (as opposed to FM).

You can program the other button as "next audio source". That way, you can alternate between FM, weather, CD and aux.

I didn't know the following. I can't wait to try it.

you can reset the transmission's 'memory'.
- power on the car (everything on, except engine)
- press the accelerator all the way down to the floor, hold it for 45-60 seconds.

for the next couple thousands miles the transmission will 'adapt' to your driving style.

They say that you shouldn't use the USB/IPod connection to charge your electronic devices, but if you connect your ipod/iphone for music, your ipod/iphone gets charged anyway.
