iDrive can not cycle all the way through the radio presets but the right-(up/down) button on the steering wheel does.

With the mirror select switch in the left position, the right mirror will tilt down when you put the transmission in reverse
The single-CD plays MP3's
The clock chimes every hour- it took me a week to figure out how to turn this off!

I didn't realize how great the headlights are. I knew the Xenons were supposed to be better, but they way they go around corners and keep level is just amazing.

My angel eyes only come on when I have the parking lights on.

No oil dipstick

Parked car operation in the idrive runs programmable ventilation in the car (nice surprise for us desert rats)

1. The radio buttons sense your touch (run your fingers over them) like an iPod wheel
2. The radio buttons (1-6) can tune your radio, dial a phn num, or save a Navigation destination
3. iDrive downloads my address book from by BlackBerry Curve.
4. The timers that turn on your air conditioning (and heating i assume) twice a day if you want.
5. You place in Drive, pull up the parking brake, let off the foot brake, it trys to move and then goes into Park

Just gotta say, I love this thread . . . I'm learning so much . . .

On my 2010 I found that I could play DVD movies in the idrive only while the car is parked.

The Speedometer on the 2009 M3 reads 2 mph high, on the 2006 it reads 4 mph high and according to the dealership it can't be fixed.

Sure is a complaint, an $80K car that doesn't have a correct reading?

The passenger side mirror goes down when you back up to show you the street/curb and the standard radio really does pretty much suck for a $60,000 car.

Sorry bout that but it's a complaint from me about the DVD only playing while parked and the speedometer reading incorrectly. Rear seat passenger could have benefited on my long trip to NJ from Iowa.

This was standard feature on BMWs dating back to the early 2000's at least as far as I can recall.

I relized what a great car I have only after 2,000 miles , the best out of all the BMWs I've owned. Its nice to be able to play music through a flash drive and not have to invest in a I Pod.

THIS is a good one...

If you move your iDrive controller and hold it there for a second, it will go to that feature!

For example, if you're on the phone but want to see the Nav screen, just move it to the right and hold it. Voila! Want to go to Sirius(if that's your Entertainment choice at that moment)? Move it down and hold it - Voila again! etc...

Had a flat after hitting a pothole in NYC last Friday night.
Used BMW assist, which is also great, but it could take up to
45 minutes to have someone come out to change the tire.

My son-in-law and I changed the tire in the dark in less than 5 munutes including figuring out how the unique jack works! Great design BMW!

BTW,now I'm really glad I check the tire pressue in the spare every few months.

I agree. I transfer all my music to the car and play it from the hard drive in the car.
If I get tired of a certain song I can delete it.
Pretty cool.

On my '08 550i with comfort access option - discovered you can close windows and sunroof after you get out of car with engine shut off - place & hold a finger near the door lock on driver's door (or any door) - after a second any open windows start to close, then the sunroof closes too!

- Conversely, if you want to open windows from outside the vehicle, press & hold the "unlock" button on the remote - after a second they begin opening up!

Fun to show off these features to guest riders...

In the 24 hours that I had my car, I didn't have any aha moments. However, I am sure I will find some soon when I get my car in a week or so.

No button on the 07's. Bummer.

When using voice commands, 'stop guidance' only works to stop the lady talking about the nav route; it doesn't work on the wife.

Push the DSC button and it goes half off. Push it and hold it for a couple of seconds and it shuts off completely!

I just discovered this on Sunday an boy was I happy. See, I was disappointed that with 300 horses, I couldn't squeal my tires. So, I think I shut off my DSC and its really only half off, and I still can't squeal my tires. Then, I add a JuiceBox and think for sure now I can do it...nope. Once I figured out how to turn it completely off - squealing is not a problem! Ahem, uh, not that I plan on doing that too often - its just nice to know that I can.

BTW, changing DSC between the three modes while on the fly is not a problem.

On my 2008, all 4 door light poplar wood trim pieces are in fact 2 pieces joined in the middle. If you look closely, you can see where they joined the 2 pieces.
