The brake fluid reservoir is located under the driver side cabin air filter compartment

ok i took the video

the option i have is for door lock for all doors or drivers

and the doors lock after i get upto a certain speed and unlocks after i turned the car off and pull the key out

note that i have the LCI model with the flat key and push button start

and now that i watch it im not completely sure that the idrive menu i was in was for the door unlock as i previously remembered there was an OFF option as well

but yeah it shows the doors unlocking when i turned it off and pull the key out

just watched the video and its not very clear

but the setting was as follows

press i drive button to go into the information section. then Settings -> Vehicle/Tyres -> Door Locks -> Central Locking. then for Lock button i have set to All Doors. and Lock After Moving Off is selected (ON)

this setting also means that when i press unlock on my remote. all 4 doors unlock. rather than me having to press unlock twice. first time for drivers door. 2nd time for rest of the doors/boot

chicken8 is obviously in Australia and with that in mind, cars here in the US don't necessarily do everything that cars do everywhere else. Try closing your windows and sunroof with your remote. Can't do it here, can in Europe. It's been said it's a liability issue here, and I suspect the auto unlock might be in the same category.
It can be set to unlock JUST drivers door or ALL doors on unlocking but I have seen no option for unlocking on engine shut off in my iDrive.

You're right. I tried it, & it didn't work. Totally forgot about that.

You cannot close the fuel filler door if the car is locked.

I was amazed the other day when I got a warning after I just turned the ignition on stating that my fuel cap is not closed properly, and sure enough I discovered it wasn't turned all the way to the right.

where is this button? i've never been able to fold my mirrors back automatically

On the drivers side door right next to the mirror select switch. If you have the premium package, there will be a little push button there.

BMW improved iDrive in '08 after all the bashing with the introduction of memory buttons under the cd slot and a "Menu" button near the iDrive controller. Despite my extensive use of this car, I never noticed the "Mode" button to the far right of the memory and AM/FM controllers until I purchased the vehicle at lease end. Yet another way to access the various menu headings. iDrive bashing should cease with the volume, AM/FM, mode and menu buttons all separated from the iDrive controller!

My ah ha is that the cpo warranty and maintenance really don't cover
much

Car is at the stealership today for vibration in the steering and I was told that the bushings are worn but not covered under the cpo warranty. They also told me that the sunroof seal, even though there is a service bulletin for it, is not covered.

May have already been mentioned, but with comfort access I lock the car by brushing the rear handle with my thigh when both hands are full.

Really? What year do you have? I wonder if mine does that???

Great way to reduce drag at speeds over 25 MPH: Before entering car, manually unfold both outside mirrors. Start car and drive off; once you reach around 25 MPH both mirrors will now automatically fold in. Must be part of the dynamic efficiency package.

My wife detected this fluke and now is staying away from driving this car even more than before. Too much tech for her needs. When this happened she pulled over right away and finally found the little round botton that moved the mirrors out again.

It appears that the spare tire space is deep enough to hold a real spare. Under the space saver is a block of styrofoam. Anyone removed this and gone to a full size spare?
