Mein Auto: BMW 535i + 535XI wagon
I really like this thread so wanted to add a few comments to contribute and keep it alive.

The brakes. Holy crud, they are the best I have ever driven. They engage early, establish bite, then clamp down when you push a bit firmer. I love the feel and responsiveness. Hats off to BMW for this design. I am referring to my sedan with sports package and staggered 18s.
Our 535 wagon is another story. I replaced the fronts with slotted and crossdrilled Stoptech rotors and ceramic pads all around. It doesn't have the same tactile feel. Maybe I should have replaced the rear rotors too. I am doing stainless brake lines next to see if that improves things.

Second discovery: The Lane Departure warning system. Seems cool and high tech, even integrates into my HUD. But I NEVER use it. That's because I tend to drive sober, alert and awake. It does work great though for those who tend to swerve all over the lanes, so I am a proponent of the system if it can help other drivers stay in their lane more.

I discovered to my chagrin that there's a little warning illustration on my cupholders that instructs me not to use wine glasses in them. Imagine my dismay! What ever will Mimsie and I do on our way to the club!

As I open door to get in, I hear an electronic buzz like something is getting ready. I don't think it's the fuel pump. Anyone?

It could be your seats/side bolsters.

That is true. I have a manual as well and the "hill start assist" kicks in at lights and the like. Gives you a second to get the gas/ clutch ratio right before you start rolling back! I love this feature!

I think its the computer fans spooling up. if you sit in the car after you turnit off for a little while you will hear it again with several other computer like sounds. Almost like its shutting down and the disk drives are slowing down.

When we bought my wife's 530, we thought it had a fold down rear seat. Not!

That's what we get for looking at too many cars that day.

I haven't been on this forum in a while. I see AntDX316 is still around. I would have thought that he would have crashed his mom's car by now. Humm... who knew.

Ant hasn't posted for at least several months now ever since he got flamed for claiming he test drove a brand new 100K+ BMW 6 series at a dealership --- by himself!

I used to really enjoy his retarded posts. I used to shake my head in disbelief that anyone (regardless of age) could be so stupid. Honestly, I'm surprized he had not become another victim of natural selection. I presume he is still pimping his mother's 545i?

I thought I'd bump Polk's old thread up to the top again since there are a lot of new members now who can probably use the information shared here.

I've done this. The dealer threw me (and only me) the keys to a $113K 2012 Individual Comp 650 and told me to come back when my test drive was sufficient. That was the third (most expensive) 6er I test drove at that dealership by myself. Not impossible if you have a good relationship with your dealership. Just sayin.

Works when backing up as well.

Thanks for reopening this thread! My list would include(forgive if these are already listed elsewhere):
21-way adjustable seats aren't overkill
Ventilated front seats are a necessity (though cleaning dog barf from rear perf. leather is a nightmare. See prior thread)
HeadLights that turn around corners with you are amazing
Hill launch control isn't as annoying as I initially thought. Not a big fan of Big Sis.
holding your finger on the pre-sets without actually pressing it lists what the function is on the nav screen.
Washing it every weekend annoys neighbors concerned with CA drought.
Not an embarrrassment at the track running with vetts, porsche, M3's, etc.
Biggest Surprise? I'm sitting on a BMW forum enraptured by every little detail of our cars. Thanks for the fun, guys! Now I'm going outside to wash it even though it's supposed to rain tomorrow.

I meant to come back to this thread and state that you can program one of the preset buttons for navigation to preset destination--like your home. Directions to complete are in my manual...don't remember off top of my head.

That your alarm will go off if your radar detector falls down. My radar fell down last night at 3:30 am... It only fell about 5", then the cord caught it (it is hard-wired through the headliner). I cleaned my windows the other day and did not press hard enough on the suction cups.

If needed, double click to lock and it will de-activate the interior motion sensor.

I think all of these have been mentioned.

1. Power Headrest
2. Power outlets in the trunk and passenger foot board
3. Flashlight in the glove compartment
4. Mirrors fold in (Still wonder as to why, as they seem to do it randomly)
5. Passenger mirror moves the ground when in reverse
6. car goes back to park when trying to move with a door open
7. headlights turn when I turn the wheels.
8. USB outlet. (Didn't notice it until I had the car for a week)
9. MUCH Harder to haggle prices of things on craigslist when you pull up in a car that may cost more than the person selling's house.

Car still seems to surprise me every once in a while.

Shouldn't be anything random about your mirrors. Push the button they fold in/out or fold out on there own at certain speed (25mph?).
