Pushing the sunroof button "up" slightly raises the rear edge of the sunroof...

When using the Nav on the MY 2010 you have the split screen on and the arrow display when you exit the highway the map comes up in the split screen showing you the lanes and the exit on the highway after you exit the arrow display comes back on. Cool

You can also make the screen full size, or change it from daytime view or night time view.
Also near large buildings you can see the buildings in grey in 3D.
This is all in perspective view.

Now that I have had my car for 10 days, I did discover a few things.

1. When I lightly touch the 6 memory buttons on radio, the top bar of navi screen shows which shortcut is stored in that button. Sad that I can't store 6 radio stations + 6 navi destinations + 6 phone nos. etc. It is just 6 shortcuts ... that is it.
2. If I keep my side view mirror setting switch slid to passenger side, the auto-tilt-on-reverse feature of passenger side mirror gets deactivated.
3. From parked (P) position, I can move to reverse or drive in one throw of shifter, instead of pulling / pushing the shifter twice.
4. Arm rest storage is ventilated.
5. There is no coin storage.
6. There is no sun glass holder.
7. Folded side view mirrors open automatically at 25 mph.
8. If I tilt open the sun roof, the cover underneath opens few inches automatically.
9. My garage opener is not compatible with BMW's system.
10. Pathway lighting feature is activated via flasher action (pulling the stalk after shutting off the car).
11. The USB ports should not be used for charging any device. Does anyone know why?
12. The AUTO climate control button can be pushed three times to change climate control's intensity to low to medium to high.
13. Pressing START / STOP button when break paddle is not pressed, start radio readiness without starting the car.
14. You can choose a location on map to navigate to via "Interactive Map" option.
15. I don't need my cool Jawbone headset now that my phone pairs with my car over bluetooth. Much easier now to take calls while driving.
16. BMW Assist folks were very easy to work with during the introductory call.
17. Doors do not unlock automatically after switching off the ignition and taking key fob out of its slot.
18. After doors have been locked by key fob, after a few minutes, if you briefly press the lock button on key fob ... the interior lights come on.
19. Reading the owner's manual is fun and extremely useful.

Some of the things other people have mentioned, I don't want to repeat, so for things that were not mentioned

1) You can send your car an address from Google maps and it show up under BMW Assist->My Info, including notes. You can then select it as a destination.

2) What I thought was orange back lighting is actually recessed orange LEDs that illuminate the console, door handles and the console area of the back seat. I discovered this by accident when I was driving at night and I reached for something and noticed the orange glow on my hand.

3) If you use a USB Drive instead of an iPod there is a delay when paging through music. I use a 32GB flash drive.

4) You can adjust the cruise control by 10km at a time or 1 km at a time.

5) The speedometer shows 5km/hr less than your actual speed.

I still have some questions, they are probably in the manual but it is thicker than the bible and they are not that important, but a short answer here would be appreciated.

1) All my passengers comment how the seat hugs them when I start to drive, but mine doesn't , I may have turned that off but I am not sure how.

I had another question but it slipped my mind right now.

I believe they are referring to the side lumbar support "balloons" which inflate when you get in and deflate when you turn your car off. Interesting note - the balloons don't inflate until you close your door, even if the engine is on.

If they aren't working for you, perhaps your seat lost its memory of that. Maybe your significant other pressed Position 2 and wiped out the lumbar memory when you went back to Position 1. Try resetting it.

My Side lumbar deflates when I open the door which at the same time my steering wheel moves up. Not when I just turn off the car. Is that what you mean?

Yes, I guess both the inflating AND deflating are both engine AND door-based.


I have a question myself now though - devnull says his PASSENGERS are saying they're getting "hugs", but my passenger seat does not seem to retain the lumbar ballooning in its memory. It can be set, but once the door opens and it deflates, the seat does not retain it the next time. It would be neat to "hug" suprised passengers!

When you plaY a CD that you burned the Artist and Song Title comes up on the nav screen. It didn't show anything on my 2005 530i with nav.

well my e34 525i had

a cracked radiator

all wheel disk brakes (that's a plus)

the dumbest computer system I have ever seen, it likes to tell me all of these thing thats wrong with the car like lic plate light, engine oil low, and brake light curcuit and the best part is its not right i check everthing and its fine.

and the best for last a car phone!!!!

BTW, I did not know that the door chime has a dedicated speaker and it is right at the bottom of the footwell area. Stick your head down in there by the pedals, look up and there it is - about a 3" speaker. No wonder the sound is so rich!

That is called "ambient lighting", provides soft orange glow throughout the cabin. It is part of the premium package.

Adjust your seat settings using the buttons on the lower left side of your seat then press and hold the memory button, then press either 1 or 2 depending on your preference. When you get in the car using that car key, it will remember the settings and re-adjust them accordingly.

The bolsters don't inflate they move in and out to hug you. the lombar inflates unless you have something the reet of us don't .
