Thumbs up 1993 740i - Need help to fix brake light

Hi
I have 1993 BMW 740i series. The Brake light is not working on driver side.
The Lamp looks ok. Even with the new lamp also it is not working. So what could be the problem? Is there any chance for breaking of electrical wires? Also, How do I find that the brake sensor is working and where it is located.

Thank you all for your help.

If the brake light on the passenger side is working but the one on the driver's side is not, it is most probable that the brake sensor is not the fault. In some cars, corrosion can cause this problem, and can be cleaned up with a small wire brush and application of an electronics spray cleaner. Does the entire unit detach from inside the trunk (on my '01 e30...the entire unit came off by unscrewing a single larger screw, making everything very easy). Also, check the bulb and make sure it is the same type as the one on the pax side. I had a similar problem with my '01 when I first got it and found out that someone had installed an incorrect bulb. Bulbs sold at Autozone do not match BMW's bulbs and in some cases, although their computer claims it to be the correct bulb, you cannot even insert it into the mount/socket.

Most problems with non working brake lights is the plastic bulb holder having over heated and the bulb becomes loose in the holder, This problem occurs mainly on auto BMW's due to drivers sitting at traffic lights with their foot on the brake pedal which over time over heats the bulb holder, Another very common problem.
