pulled the trigger!

I have pulled the trigger on an 00 M5 with 70K miles. One owner and has clean car fax. I am having a PPI done next week and barring a clean bill of health will wire funds for the car and arrange shipping. I feel like I have orgasmed and vomited at the same time!

I have done extensive research and this forum and most members are amazingly helpful. Due diligence is the key. I currently own an 03 X5 4.4 w/75K and have had a few other BMW's. I can do some DYI maintenance but am limited by time and knowledge (I have come to learn what takes most people 1 hour takes me 4) I have read a lot of info on VANOS but not really sure if one can determine if it could be a problem. What exactly is it and what do you look for? Is ther any PM you can do to prevent problems?

Reading so much on cooling system failures leaves to believe in the next 5K miles I should consider changing out the entire cooling system ie radiator, clutch fan, water pump, thermo, hoses, etc. This brings me to a another question, should I consider changing out the cooling system on the X5? (I know, go to the X5 forums)

Thanks in advance for any positive input. Most info on this forum is incredibly valuable and if I ever can pass on any thing useful I will.

I think most of the cooling problems are non-M related. I haven't really heard any problems with the cooling on the M5's.

Anyway, good luck on the car!!! post pics when you get it....
