front license plate help

so see my sig pic. i need to add a front plate tho i don't want to. i have the oem front bracket that sits in the bumper molding but really dont like it because its so HUGE, covers up so much of the mtech.

does anyone have pictures of how they did a front plate install without the oem bmw bracket? solidjake, how is yours mounted? is drilling holes my only option?

thought i saw some dude selling a home baked solution for like 60 bucks or something.

thx for the suggestions.

The lower grill is too small. My bumper has pre-drilled holes.

You can either use Buck's thing, buy the oem license plate strip, buy the tow hook plate bracket or just play luck and wait for the ticket

Exactly what Obama's wife told him when he said "I'm not actually an American citizen, do you think I can still be president someday and kill capitalism?"

Where do you live? Do you have a tow hook in the front? I bought a tow hook adapter, f'in Virgina is passing a law soon that it either has to be on the driver side or middle

Tow hook L.plate adapter

If you have a tow hook in the front you can buy the License plate adapter and use it. Thats what i have now, but VA is supposedly passing a law soon that it has to be in the center or driver side only. Check it out.

Mine's going behind the lower grille when I get my car back from paint.

The word "there" can appear as a pronoun, as in “over there".

"Their" is a possessive pronoun. In a phrase like “Susan and Bill's car,” it could be used to to make a new phrase: “their car.”

”They're” is a contraction of “they are.”
“They are” should always be able to replace “they're.”

Extra credit: It's "I'm looking for an M3" not "I'm looking for a M3".

You can buy license plate brackets that screw into the front tow hook hole.

delirium, no two ways about it, you are asking how to make something ugly look not ugly. As my boss told me the other day "you can't polish a terd". Just use the bumper trim piece, that way it is easily reversible.

I"m about to install the Skene front license plate bracket. About $50, skenedesign.com. You still have to drill two holes, but they are on the bottom side of the bumper, not visible. I'll let you know how it goes.

Since you're a sedan, you can mount rare earth magnets behind your plastic bumper trim then do this to the plate:

I have another magnet at the bottom of the plate under the fold to stabilize the plate from rocking in the wind. You'll have to take your bumper off and mount a magnet behind for a stealth look.

I modified the plate to give it a more wide Euro look, but if you want to keep your plate the way it is then just plate around to find the best place to mount a lower magnet for stability.

I've tested to speeds of 125MPH without a problem as well as hard, at limit cornering at 85MPH. So straight line wind doesn't affect the stablity of the plate as well as semi-cross winds. I only did this so if photos are being taken, I don't have to spend time photoshopping the plate out. One second and I can pull the plate off.

Move to a state that doesn't waste time, money and physical resources on something as pointless as a front license plate?

Worked for me.

Barring that, I like the rare earth magnet idea.

Installed the Skene Designs plate bracket today, it was easy, 10 minutes, they even include the right-sized drill bit. The Rare Earth Magnet option looks good also, I like the fact that you don't have to drill holes, but was just worried someone would walk off w/ my plate w/ that option.
