Hello all:
I recently got a 2000 528i wagon for my dogs, fishing & bicycle carrier car. I go way back with BMW & Mercedes. Our first being a 70 BMW 2000 4door and a 73 Benz 280 sedan. Did all my own car work for many years but now occaisionally choose to pay a good, local Indy when I want to fish or go for a long bike ride & one of the cars needs attention. Don |

Got my first BMW today!
I just bought an '08 528i and drove it 700 miles home through traffic, snow, sleet, and ice. My butt's tired, and I'm in love with this car. I now understand why these things have such a following.
I'm going to have a million questions for all of you over the next few years. Maybe, if I learn something, then I'll answer some too. horse shoe |

BMW rebuilt E34/M20 1990 525i
My first BMW was a 325i. That car taught me the definitions of "handling" and "performance." Once, when Pres. Clinton's motorcade was heading the other direction on I-270 near St. Louis, I was driving and looking at the bus when I looked forward again, a car was stopped right in front of me. I was going about 60. No time to think or even check side view mirror. I veered right and then straight and missed dying that day because of that car. Who knows what would have happened but it would have definitely hurt a few people.
I sold that one to a young woman who T-boned another car within 3 weeks of owning it. My current BMW is as the title says, a 1990 525i. I bought it when it was in a coma from a timing belt break and nursed it back to health. Unfortunately, its first doctor, I think, had the last name Mengele, and he butchered her. Dismantled the engine and declared her unfixiable in a heavy German accent (really). I did not believe it and, since the car was a project for my son and I, was not about to give up. So, after a couple of years in different hospitals waiting for parts to arrive from all over the U.S. and other countries, she was back! Since everything is new OEM, the prognosis is excellent. She runs and drives like any other high-mileage BMW, you know, like a GM car, but that's OK for my son who is in his last year of college. I think it might be because not many kids in college drive a classic, shiny BMW. Regrettably for me, he recently inherited a car from his grandfather, which he likes a lot so one of them has to go. He decided because of emotional attachment to Grandpa's car, the BMW was going to be yet another casualty of my father's passing. If you are interested, I've attached some photos and have more.Car goes to the highest bidder on my email |

Hello
Last week I purchased a 1995 M3 from my brother-in-law, who is a big BMW fan and does his own maintenance. The odometer reads 146,000 miles but he replaced the engine with a 1997 S52 engine with only 70,000 miles. This car replaces my 2002 Honda Accord V6 and what a difference it is. The M3 drives great with no real problems. This is my first BMW although I've been wanting one for a couple of years now. The day after I bought it I was washing it in the driveway and my neighbor came across the street and said,"Oh, you got a bimmer.....and not just any bimmer, an M3!"

1995 BMW 325i Convertable
A line to say hi! from Santa Fe NM. I traded my 98 Tacoma 4X4 ext. cab straight across for the Bimmer about 4 yrs back. It has been a terrific ride. I had to put a new top on it and adjust the driverside switch on the striker that controls the windows when you open or close the door. That and new tires and front struts.

I love my car, a 2001 330ci I bought about 4 months ago. I have had the privilege of driving some great cars in the past('64Shelby Mustang for one), but this black beauty is all mine, cash! It is not perfect, neither am I, so a work in progress. But it is strong and oh, so quick! Trying to figure out just what I want to do to her, definitely some aftermarket taillights(Spyder has some really cool ones), clear or smoked front corners, better headlights(the ones in there were hokied in there by the kid that I bought it from), trying to decide which way to go with all the lenses. Most of the things that need to be fixed are minor cosmetic items. Aforementioned kid blacked out the taillights with film or dip or something, I looked it up on my state website and I believe they are illegal, so I want to change that out before it becomes a problem. Plus it looks stupid. He blacked out everything in a cheap attempt at smoked I guess, including emblems. dur. Driving is such an experience in this lovely car, even slow driving. But wouldn't a road rally be something! I call it "driving my beemer, the video game". Quick, quick with such handling and the sound it makes, oohhh, I love that! Vroom, vroom!

yo!
Hi am obsessed with the e24.Had 3 since 1992 a 77,79 and a 85. I have also owned 7series, and a 3series from the 80's.I had my 85 e24 parked for six years and vowed to restore it to my likeing. currently fate has kicked me to the curb
and the only vehicle i now have is my six. I used my last bit of money to tag and insure the vehicle and have been using it as a daily driver (60 miles a day). Although she needs every thing replaced, I still feel confident she will start in the morning and get me where i need to go.

Blown Cd
What model car is this? Try looking in the trunk on passenger side for fuses or in the glove box. Get a schematic of the fuses and locations of the fuse boxes in the car. The schematic should show you where the cd fuse is. Sometimes you can find this information in the owners manual.
Best of Luck, AW4141

CD internal Fuse
I do not know if there is an internal fuse. I would check with an indy shop or go to the dealer parts department and see if they will show you a diagram of the cd and where the parts are. Some times the parts guy will put you in touch with the person in the service area that will explain to you what is happening with the part that is not working.
All the best of life, AW4141

This is alsom
Hello new to your site, I came here on a bad start I am looking to solve a problem on my z3. Here's the deal I need a car to return to work after being off for 2 years. SO I was looking at small sports car's on ebay for the right one, looking at them all. I show my wife my dream car and the first thing out of her mouth was " like you can afford that" I bought a 1999 z3 with 43,000 miles on it, could not afford a 2000. WOW what an alsom car. I love it and the story goes on I bought my wife a 2008 serbring hard top convertable in 08, thats what see wanted. I could not stand the car, just did not like it. It was making some noises she did not like and telling me about them, what can I do I did not build the car. so 1/1/11 she decides to possible trade it in on something better. I GOT A GREAT IDEA since this z3 is such an alsom ride, electric smoth I took her to the BMW dealer 07 x5 LOADED, She say's you drive I will follow your wants. NO WAY I started test dirving made two turnes and said I want you to drive. She loved it and life is great. NOw I have two BMW's in the driveway. She is happy so I am happy. the problem I have with my z3 is I was teaching my daughter 15 to drive on the street, she has been driving my jeep since 7. Well she stoped and stalled the car and it will not start? Problem. any suggestion's? It starts with starting fluid I have no idea where the fuel cut off swith is, what ever you call it. I would also like to start this relantionship off with I am a JESUS FAN. That part is important to me. I am glad to join your club I will help in any way I can to other BMW fans. My expertize is in the insulation field, if any has questions about that. Don't use fiberglass. Thank you for having me and GOD BLESS.

Won't start
I'd start with the fuel pump relay. Jumper the contacts with the 12 volt feed, listen for the fuel pump to run.
