Recently purchased a black 2005 645Ci convertible with 40,000 Km or 25,000 miles on it, and extra set of winter grips. What a beauty! It is in storage until spring. Already found out the battery problems. What are this model's deficiencies long term owners have experienced?

I have a 1996 auto e36 328i and it smokes on start up and every time you give petrol,plugs are full of oil. Is this valve stem seals?

I have a 2005 325 i. The inside button to release the trunk does not open the trunk but the button on my key does. Any suggestion? is it in a fuse?

You might do just as well locating a local upholstery shop ( fabricator) using real sheepskins.

Hi finally got around to posting although been a member for about 6 months. Have the site very useful as my E39 540i Touring (94,000 miles since Nov 1999) has been giving me huge grief until I finally decided to take it off the road. Problem was stalling once the revs dropped down to idling speed. Local BMW dealer had it in three times and said they either couldn't find a problem or said they had fixed it (cam sensor). They hadn't and after spending £750+ on the visits I decided to give up and leave the car until I some time to try and fix it myself. Having read all the posts about this problem I tried cleaning the MAFF but to no avail; then decided to replace air filter and MAFF. Thanks to site I bought a Range Rover replacement at 3x cheaper than BMW part. Success, no more stalling after trip of 500 miles plus and about to embark on lambda replacement to try to get it running sweet. Thank you all!
