I assume BMW isn't bringing the SWB 760i to the States? Shame... that'd be a helluva car.

Yup, only the Li. Also, no xDrive on the 760 either.

A fascinating un-narrated BMW video montage - the first part features the 760Li in a series of publicity videos - but see 19:50 onward for an incredible view of the 7 series production process at the Dingolfing plant - enjoy!

Best regards.

Scratch that. Car and Driver is reporting the base price will start at $137,425, and you'll have to add a $3000 gas guzzler tax to that!

Quote:
For the longest, most powerful new 7-series, pricing starts at $137,425óbefore you add any options.

The options list is fairly short. A night vision system adds $2600, active cruise control is $2400, interior wood trim (three varieties are available) commands $1080, and a wood-inlayed steering wheel is $800. Tack on another $200 for a massaging rear seat and $150 for Bluetooth phone integration. Four metallic paint colors add an extra $1800 to the bill.

Just three packages are offered for the 760Li, since most items offered on lesser 7s are standard here. Individual Composition adds 20-inch V-spoke wheels, an Alcantara headliner, Merino leather, and interior wood trim for $6500. The $3900 M Sport package includes 20-inch double-spoke wheels with stickier tires, an M steering wheel, and an aerodynamic body kit. Finally, the rear-seat entertainment pack goes for $2200 and includes two 8-inch video screens.

The 760Liís V-12 engine also scores with a $3000 gas guzzler tax. All of which reminds us: arenít we in a recession?
http://blog.caranddriver.com/2010-bm...ons-announced/

Is it really worth that premium?

Recession???? hahahahah. Well, It all depends on who you think the recession is affecting. Less than a year ago Goldman Sachs (GS) was down to $47 it recently touched $160. Bank of America (BAC) went down to $2.53...today it's around $14. Google (GOOG) was down almost $247 but it's currently trading around $440...just to mention a few.

Yes people lost money when the stock market tanked but as you can see people have being making tons money of on Wall Street in recent months and days.

Some of the people that buy/lease high-end luxury cars like the BMW 760s are barely feeling the pinch of the recession. Also, look at how much Rolls Royce Phantom and BMW 7ers are selling in China and then Russia. Have you seen the prices for the 7 series in China? They're redicously expensive but they're selling like hot cakes.

Let's just say BMW knows what they're doing and will not have price these 760s the way they have unless they know they'll sell...fast.

IMHO, the 760Li shouldn't even have options. It should come with every option loaded as standard (just like the Mercedes S600) for that price but i bet BMW will tell you some customers don't want all the options in their 760Li and prefer to pick and choose what options to get...it's part of the BMW 7 series experience...i guess :-)

Nope - I'd just get the badges (will only need a "6" plus the V12 ones), bumper and exhaust from parts and make my 750LI a 760Li . All for probably less than the gas guzzler tax increase. Any cosmetic items I would be missing?

And I am just kidding.

Agreed, 110%!!

And, like the 600, it should have only two options:

M Sport Package (Sport Package) and Individual Composition Package (Designo)

Why Massaging Rear Seats is a $200 option, when the car comes standard with what one would think is the Luxury Rear Seating Package, which is inclusive of massaging rear seats on every other model, is beyond me. Seriously, who would skimp on $200 Massaging Rear Seats on a 760? Do they reduce interior space in some way? Other than that, it's hard to believe that the components / tech of the feature costs only $200; has to be more, no!?

No doubt! I do not understand the pricing strategy, from one year to the next they change out these chicken s#*t options that are peanuts only to keep the salesmen confused or what? By the time they are in the 760 price range this makes no sense at all.
