Gear ratio ?

I was wondering if anyone can tell me the gear ratio for a 1993 525i and a 1995 530i. i want to take the rear out of the 525 and put it in the 530. i would like to gain some take off and posi my 530i has traction control and as far as i can tell on a straight away i have posi but once i go in to a 360 it will spin one tire my 525i is posi all day long. the gear ratio is the most important part i do not want to go from a 373 to a 323 ratio i will keep the non posi in that case any help would be great! thank u

Can`t tell you off the top of my head, because so many ratios were used, but as a general rule, automatics will have a higher (numerically) ratio. One way to tell (pretty damn close, anyway) is to get the back of the car up on jackstands, put the trans in neutral, and get underneath with a piece of chalk. Scribe a line on one of the back tires at the 6 o`clock position, then scribe another line on the driveshaft (front-to-back, parallel with the shaft), also at the 6 o`clock position. Then, begin rotating the tire, and count how many revolutions the driveshaft makes for one complete tire revolution....three and a quarter turns for the shaft would be around a 3.25 rear, 3 1/2 turns would be a 3.50, you get the idea....
And, with very few exceptions, BMW stopped putting LSDs in non-M cars around 20 years ago....

2) medium size like 530 v8
