driver's side window won't go auto up

All,

I recently wrecked my car. They reset the board computer. I hit a tree drivers side headlight area.

Since I got my car back, a few things: gas guage was showing empty, has since gone up to 3/4. No more problem. Outside temp gauge -40, they need to replace the sensor, I know -40 is the default. I'll get that fixed.

However, my driver's side window won't go up auto. It goes up if I hold it, but not one-touch. It does go auto-down. Any ideas? I assume it is accident related but can't believe it would have been from the tree, since that didn't impact my door. However, since the board computer was reset, I assume that is the cause. Any ideas?

IIRC, mine will not auto up with the door open, but will with the door closed. Does yours auto up with the door closed?

Door is closed, still won't go up. When your door is open, it won't go up... that is on purpose.

I have had that problem since my car got hit too. I made the body shop put another switch in it but it still has the same problem. I'd like to fix mine as well. Interested to see the outcome of this thread.

try this:

Quote:
After replacing your window regulators, your Auto Lowering/Raising functions for your window might not work.

Here is the reprogramming procedures.

Activating Automatic Lowering Function:
1. Turn Key to 1
2. Lower your window fully (manually)
3. Hold on to it for 30 seconds.
4. Done

Activating Automatic Raising Functions:
1. Turn Key to 1
2. Raise your window fully (manually)
3. Hold on to it for 30 seconds.
4. Done

Same exact thing happened to me...I was not really hit...just got scraped on the door. Maybe the body shops messed something up?

Yeah mine was just a scrape too. They told me they did what they could if I wanted to do anything further I would have to pay for it.

If the window works normally..except for the one touch up...I'd check to make sure that the anti-trap switch is correctly in place and has not been disconnected.

So, I hear you all say "what anti-trap switch?" There is a anti-trap switch incorporated into the "piece" that goes along the upper track for the windows. It can become NON-WORKING if it gets pulled out of place when mis-handled by closing/opening the door using this part instead of the door handle, or lower (metal) frame of the door. Also, if you've pulled the door card to work on the regulator...the electrical harness can be overlooked...and if you're in an accident, perhaps something has dislodged or got moved out of place.

The switch is incorporated into item #4 and #10 in the diagram below...I'm using my Touring's diagram since it's the easiest (for me) and theres' too many of you all to go back and look at what models you had.

#4 - front left/right door cover w/switch & #10 - rear left/right door cover w/switch
530i Sedan: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...=51&fg=20&hl=9
#3- front left/right door cover w/switch & #4- rear left/right door cover w/switch

The dealer can set this; if it's not the anti-trap it could be a misconfigured General Module.
