themostat?

IM gettung my water pump replaced should i pay an additional 184.00 dollars to install a new thermostat.I have a 2001 x5 4.4 with a 130000 km and the thermostat that i have on now is the original and is working fine.

I can't speak to whether the price is fair, but preemptively replacing an eight year old thermostat sounds like a good idea to me. They do fail.

I completely agree, replacing an old thermostat is a good idea. Just make sure you go to a BMW experienced mechanic. If your not going to the dealer that is.
