Oil Consumption

Has anyone experienced excessive oil consumption with their 2009 750? My car has only 2,600 miles on it and the "add oil light" came on this evening. Before buying the car, I read in Automobile that their long term test car was also using oil like crazy. Given it's my first BMW, I don't know what to expect, but I'm not pleased!

Everything I've read has shown that this car likes lots of oil. Just stop by your local dealer and have them add some for you for free. It shouldn't take more than 30 minutes of your time.

I had to add a quart of oil at around 5000 miles. My light came on while driving and then after turning the car off got the warning chime and text on re-start. After adding quart the warning light did not go off till next day...yet oil status check showed oil level OK after addition of quart. Techs seemed unconcerned and said same as hayden...car likes oil.

If you plan on adding a quart of oil, make sure it's BMW LL-01 approved oil. The most readily available LL-01 oils are BMW 5W-30 synthetic, Castrol Syntec 0W-30, and Mobil 1 0W-40.
