the brown connector on top the thermostat is the temp sensor for the dash... i guesss start there.
the blue connector goes to the ECU and if its malfunctioning your car wont run so im assuming its not that one

checked and replaced both of those to no avail. if i pull the oxygen sensor, apart from leaving a hole in the exhuast system, will this indicate a bad sensor if the running temperature drops? or is this just a bad idea?

just unplug it. there should be a connection in the line near the o2 sensor, or in the engine compartment down by the exshaust manifold

thats teh one! lol

the oxygen sensor is unplugged.. still is and ive driven to school and back twice and the work as well... temperature is still high. i saw someone mention wait till it gets "overheated" and then turn the car off and then back on straight away.. the temp gauge does drop back to half, but within 30seconds its back to 3/4. i would swap clusters but iver taken my spare apart reay to accept the euro speedo i aquired (MPH)

does anyone think the fact that the fuel gauge is dodgy will be the same cause?

replaced the gauge and now the temperature reads fine, so that must have been the issue. noexceptions you should give that a go
