Turns out a stage 2 wrx with about 12 boost leaks is quicker from a 10mph to 100 than an M50 swapped e30. 20-100 was even better because I was in boost, but the e30 really surprised me for some reason. I imagine if I didn't have boost leaks and a shot original turbo w/186k miles on it it wouldn't have been remotely as close as it was.
It is making me want another e30 though.. |

I got a good feel. I kind of wedged myself in between them right when they were about to have sex though, cause I needed sauces' tractor key.

Thanks driveby72, i was researching some 325i head conversions, just put the complete head and intake mani and the 172 ecu and all that jazz and then you got a higher revving ETA. would you do the m50 conversion or the 'i' head conversion. I have heard turbo kits are cheaper for the m50?

Waiting to find the right "I" head for my seta with the amount of work in a m50 swap for not to much hp gains. I know there is a better variety of things for the m50 but I think i'm sticking with boosting the m20. Noticed the exhaust right by my driver side rear a arm goes from the normal pipe to a tiny flat tube then back after about a foot? Why did they do this? Waste of time and power out of the motor, granted it probably isn't to much but really? Getting that taken out here in the next couple days for $40 and installing the right size tube there. Would it help or would i need the "i" exhaust to get the gains?

Just an FYI, the eta down tubes actually fit inside the "i" tubes. Manifolds are exactly the same.

the time and effort it takes to build a "stroker" m20 is just as hard as a 24v swap. drive an m50 e30, then drive an i, or a "stroker" m20. they drive like two completely different cars. the 24v is more responsive, better torque/hp, sounds much nicer and can make more hp much cheaper than an m20.

Either way my stock seta keeps up with e36 325i's already so ill probably do a couple things to the m20 to have it be decently quick until I can afford to go m50 correctly and have correct knowledge to do it. But by then I'll probably do s50
