rear door speakers
Had to remove rear driverside door panel to fix window. Pulled off easier than I thought. speaker connectors pulled free before I could note how they were connected. It has premium DSP system so a tweeter and midrange. Tweeter connector is obvious. Mid range has 2 places that the other connector will key into. It plays when connected to either spot, but are they polarized differently? BMW shop manual says to hook up as it was, so no help. Does anyone know if it matters how it is hooked up?

Yes it does----easy way to check polarity on speakers is to take a 9 volt battery and connect quickly (very quickly) and then disconnect.
When speaker moves out the polarity is positive. If you play speakers incorrectly polarized it wil cancel out certain sounds and may damage the amp over time.

Turns out both connections on the speaker are identical. Each connector had 2 pins and there was zero ohms between the same location pin in each connector and 4 ohms between both pins in the same connector.

Sounds like we are talking about two different aspects. There would be a main input to the 4 inch speaker and an in turn an output to the tweeter. Is that what you are trying to determine?

That makes sense. I have a separate feed wire for the tweeter maybe because of "premium" sound. So I don't have to jumper over to the tweeter but the second connector spot could be used to do that.
