blue smoke means burning oil. burning fuel is black smoke.

If its your cats and you have less then 80k miles your within range of the federal emmisons warranty on it and it will be replaced by bmw for free. I would press them even if i had 82 on it. Good luck.

Part #13 on this diagram. OSV is the term on E38's. On E65/E66's I believe they are normally called CCV's (crank case vent or something to that effect). Also, they learned from the E38...the ones on these are really easy to get to and repair / replace.

You should go to your mechanic and get a refund...No way this cost $200. Changing these out literally takes 15 mins tops and I'm not the most mechnical. Smoke seems to have gotten better also after I changed mine out.

Oops, that should have said 141 dollars. 60 dollars of that bill was for other parts and transmission diagnosis. Each ccv was 45 dollars....plus labor

So the blue smoke issue may be the CCV? I the CCV also reference as the Crankcase Vent Valve? Part number please guys if you have it. Thanks.

is ur issue fixed

I bought a used 745i bmw 02 as is the second day after i bought it it started smoking white smoke from the tail pipe and check engine light come on. Coolant light also came on said coolant was low. You guys say blue smoke from your tail light. mines have only been white as far as i know. every two days i had to put coolant in it. i only driving it a week in the two months I had it. the diagnostic run from an independant bimmer mechanic had 40 engine codes. Do you think if I replaced the ccv's and find out where the coolant is leaking will fix the problem, before changing the HG valves? I'm clueless on cars. just want my dream car fixed.

If you are losing coolant and it is not leaking outside the engine, then it is leaking inside the engine. It can only go into the crankcase/oil or into combustion in which will make smoke out your pipe with a distinct smell. You need to get this car diagnosed properly right away. Don't waste money on trying to replace CCV, ect. With coolant likely entering combustion you are looking at head gasket, cracked head, cracked block.

Looks like the person who sold you the 7 didn't disclose this info. These issues don't happen overnight especially with the smoke. The dealer or person had to know. I would sell it if I were you and get a different 7 or different car all together. You will be throwing money at it left and right...Good luck

the dealer claims the vehicle never had these problems before I bought it. It all occured in the 1 day after I purchased it.
