How many miles on your E60?

13,500 miles 2009 535i x-drive. Other than oil and collant top-off, not a single issue. Due for first service and oil change at the end of the month. Will have my passenger-side cup holder repaired / replaced as it gets stuck closed occassionally.

One of the last remaining '08 550's purchased new in June 2009.

Just turned 5000 miles. Wish I could stay under 10,000 a year but my "Ten Before Six" just begs to be driven.

I have 90,241 on my 2004 545i. Still running good with no oil top-offs between intervals/ All service done when required ( I purchased service plan)

I'm due for my first oil change at the end of the month as well. I only have 6800 K on the dial
but the SA said bring it in anyway because its been a year. We must have bought our cars at the same time last year in October, I got mine on Oct 27.

Now a 111K on my 04 545i. How many miles on yours?

I got a winner, 2010 528 xi, 335 miles. Hearing all these problems, should I got a Lexus instead?

Me too. Mine just crossed the 12K mark last week on a 3/08 delivery. Have been working out of my home office about 99% of the last year. Normally I put about 10K A year on my cars, so this is a real fluke.

That 10K was last October. I'm up to about 14300 miles now.

Could lack of driving not be good as well? I know on my Porsche, not driving it is worse for the car than driving it often.

2004 545i sport package, 27,000miles. (purchased 3weeks ago with 25,000miles - just cant get out of drivers seat!)

Warranty history shows the only work that has been done is the tsb/recall items fixed as a matter of course such as DME reprogram and seat heater modification etc

Only niggle I am having is an intermittent engine shiver at idle, much improved after a full service and running texaco premium with techron and running seafoam through it over the last 3 weeks, but it still comes back every now and again.

I have 15,500 miles on my '08 535i purchased in Summer 2007. After 2 years without any problems the car has become a nightmare.
BMW has identified the many problems as being related to a weak battery, but they won't replace the almost 3 year old battery.
They want me to keep it on a battery charger. At best the daily rains would short out the extension cord and at worst someone would steal the electricity or I'd drive off with the car still connected to the wall outlet.
The service manager says the same issues exist with the F10 so I canceled my order for a new 535i.

Looks to me it is probably not only the weak battery, some faulty parts of the car must be draining power badly. You should insist that they get to the bottom of it. This is as bad as the infamous HPFP issue IMO.

Wow, looks like I might be in the lead. 04 545i purchased July of 09 with 119,000 (no warranty). It now has 137,000 miles and has been a challenge to keep up with maintenance wise. I can't imagine how expensive this car would be if I didn't do most of the work myself.

Work performed by me:
• Replaced battery
• Replaced upper & lower control arms
• Replaced inner & outer tie rods
• Replaced water pump
• Replaced both idler pulleys
• Rebuilt vacuum pump & replaced vacuum lines
• New rotor & pads all around & fluid flush
• New tires
• Replaced oil pressure sensor
• Replaced rear window seal
• Replaced drivers door seal
• Replaced failed A/C lines (horrible pain in the a$$) caused by improper radiator repair of previous owner
• New cabin & air filters
• Replaced broken headlamp washer covers

Work done by $tealer:
• Replaced Micro Power Module (water spilled in trunk)
• I-Drive/software upgrade
• Aux audio input
• Alignment
• A/C recharge (A/C pump will need to be replaced $$$$oon, now horrible groaning/whining sounds)

But its all worth it...Right??!!

I'm on my 3rd fill and only 12,000 miles:

Original factory fill: 0-1700 miles (I changed out the break-in oil myself)
BMW Free maintenance OC at 1 year anniversary: 1700- 7681 miles
BMW Free Maintenance OC at Idrive warning: 5976- 10957 miles

• Brakes replaced
• Cabin Filters Replaced (by me)
• Brakes replaced
• Fluids Changed

All done in the first four years

This year I need to have the oil changed (I have to pay for it myself)

I'm going to go out on a limb here. --Wait putting on flame resistant garb-- OK, so I am of the opinion that if you are not a hard driver,and don't put alot of hard miles on the car, following the BMW recommended service schedule is not such a bad thing. I do not plan on keeping my car forever. Keeping the engine in tip top shape will not lessen the chances of many other things going wrong and adding up in repair costs. Then there is the desire to get that new car smell and new technology,vs. keeping an expensive aging car. There comes a point when it makes sense to replace an aging car. I have had 2 X3's (both 3 year leases) and had 1 major repair done. Front diff replaced under warranty on '07 X3. I rather like the idea of not having to go in for service all the time. I have always taken good care of my cars and have had good luck with all of them. 9 new and this is my first used one. You are free to change your oil and other fluids as often as you like,but all kinds of things can go wrong over time.
As to this thread, I have 35k miles on my '07 530Xi and have not had any problems in my 3 1/2 months of ownership. Just had the TCU replaced (BMW asssist never worked), had Sirius and iPod adaptor installed,and iDrive has been updated in a big way. They gave me a very nice loaner and my car is even more enjoyable now. I have purchased this car and plan to keep it for a bit longer than my previous 2. Hoping for alot of trouble free miles.

Can't argue a lot with this statement... But "hard miles" means different things to different people. Take that baby out on the interstate and drive it at 65 MPH for hours on end, day in day out.... you can put a lot of miles on the oil and it'll hold up just fine - probably go 15K no sweat. Change that pattern into lots of short run - couple of mile - trips to/from work, errnads, etc. and particularly in winter cold climes, and those are some really "hard", oil killin miles. The CBS based sensors and software in iDrive should account for that somehow, but honestly, I just don't trust it. I'll stick with a 7500 mile oil change interval or annually - whichever comes first.

Honestly, I expect most BMW owners get rid of their cars Looooong before the "lack of maintenance" BMW recommends actually hits the pocket book hard.

Ive got 34,000 miles. Its a 2007 530i 6 Speed MANUAL. Yup, low mileage.

17K+ on my 2010 E60 and having the dreaded Engine malfunction! Reduced power issue for second time in first year.

My '04 545i now has 132000 miles. Only 100000 on the engine. Got that replaced the day I bought it from the dealership under CPO, had scoring on the cylinder walls and got it replaced.

All of these various, Engine Malfunctions and Reduced Power, even got an error stating "Electircal System Malfunction, Continued Driving not Possible" while on the express way doing 80 MPH :-) . These all went away when i finally got the Engine Wiring Harness Replaced, unfortunately no longer under warranty (CPO).

Currently dealing with the Transmissiong Surge issue. Just had the car transmission Re-Programmed. Hoping this corrects the issue.

Still love the car and love the way it drives.

Yessereee...Them thar 15K oil changes are juuuuuuust fine!!!

GPFboyJS...not poking fun at you. Glad you were able to get an engine replaced. But this is a perfect example of the stupidity in BMW's "non maintenance" program.

Agreed that BMW needs to consider that changing the oil more frequent at the start of the "Maintenance Program" would prevent these incidents, since there is always some sort of particulates in the engine after being manufactured.

Of course, at the time I had a friend who was a mechanic at the dealership. So I got a lot more repaired on the car than would normally be repaired by the average technician.
