Miles on E60
My 2004 530i just crossed 140,000. Zero major issues. I AM holding my breath for the coolant system upgrades/replacements. Trying to get the $$ together with the initiative to actually DO something about it. I have had some minor things, but nothing major at all. To top it off, this car is a past chaueffeur driven executive car from the Jersey area - and has virtually every BMW option available on it! Lots of stuff to go bad - very little has. Had the passenger side seat weight sensor go out - BMW replaced on a 10 year warantee. Had some issues (posted on this site) with dynamic drive and active steering - which have turned out to be related to ever so slightly low fluid levels in the PS and brake system reservoirs.

2004 545 - 52 000 miles battery replaced as a precaution. Passenger side seat sensor. No other major repairs. I currently have an oil leak from the front passenger side area that only appears if the car sits for a while.

2004 545i Sport - 82,300 (bought at 76K miles) and now running like a fine swiss watch.
But not always the case. Total of $14K in repairs under warranty (both BMW and extended warranty, mostly under previous owner). All the common oil leaks plus iDrive screen. Engine removed at 75K miles to fix leaking lower timing case cover and dealer replaced gaskets on the entire top of engine, including the dreaded water pipe ($6K under warranty). Previous owner followed 15K oil change intervals and likely burned up the gaskets (although the 4.4L V8 was not a stellar design to begin with). I bought the car at 76K miles and since then she has receives nothing but TLC - engine oil, differential fluid, spark plugs, trans fluid drain and fill (trans pan and mechtronics sleeve was changed at 74K miles so trans filter is relatively new and power steering fluid was changed during engine removal at 75K). Hope to drive it to 200K miles as I love it! |

2004 E60 530i -- almost 90K miles when wife totalled it (2009). Mike Miller Old School maintenance. The only issues that come to mind are sunroof wound not close (happened during our ED, fixed) and around 60-70Kish the rear seat heater stopped working (loose connection, fixed). Otherwise bulletproof, and if she were still here would probably be pushing 130K+ miles . . .
2009 E60 535i -- just picked up CPO last month. has 32K miles. seems to have had the HPFP fixed twice. Hoping for another long-lasting, wonderful experience . . .

Hit 160,500 miles this weekend. One bugger I have had over the last few months is the windshield washer leaks from the reservoir at the pump grommet. Very slow drips. I have had the motor out about 5 times and two new grommets from BMW. I can't seen to get a good seal for some reason. I either need to get an oversize grommet or new tank I guess.

I've had my 2009 E60 535i since new ... now 39600 miles. Had the HPFP fail june 2010 and replaced. Then about a year or so later, it was again replaced via a recall, with an update version. Never had any problems with the first replacement, or the second ... that's probably why you car shows it being fixed twice.

170,000 miles this past Friday. I have one intermittent P0492 which I have a left upstream O2 sensor on order.
I have had all the common oil leaks and fixed. I am due for the lower control arm bushing changes ( second time) and new transmission pan/filter/fluid change. I have also started acquiring the coolant components, thermostat, waterpump and upper/lower hoses just to be proactive. I change the oil every 10K miles now regardless of the iDrive ( normally 12 - 13K interval). I do have to put about 1 quart between intervals now which is very acceptable to me for 170K. |

I have a 545i. Mine is a 05 with 72k miles. I need to replace the front bushings too. Did you replace the entire control arm or just the bushings? Did you need an alignment after replacing the bushings? I only ask because in about 6 months I will need front tires and dont know if I should wait to I replace my tires so I can do the alignment all at once, or replace the bushings now and worry about tires and alignment later.

Wow, I am extremely fortunate with low miles considering just purchased February this year. however it is encouraging to see all the high miles on these vehicles with few major problems.
Mine is: 2007 550i - Sport Package and lots of extras. Everthing but the night vision as I can tell. Photo of Odometer attached. |

44500 miles. Tranny fault code appeared twice in the last two months. The msg disappears after I shutdown the car. Other than this no issues.
