2010 X5d Build date??

Hello, I ordered my 2010 X5d in August and have a production order number. When I check the status it is still saying there is no confirmed production date. Does anyone know when they will start production on the 2010 X5d's? Thanks

I read beginning of October. I check my production number about twice per week hoping for a surprise.

I just ordered a 2010 X5 4.8 M-sport this past weekend and was advised that production starts October 4th and that I should expect Delivery by the end of October. I live in New Jersey so that should make delivery sooner from Spartanburg.

I read somewhere that product starts on the 2010 X5 October 9, but since that's a Friday, it seems odd... unless they need the weekend to fix all the bugs that happen on the first day's production!

Frankly I'm hoping they don't make mine until a couple weeks after production starts. The MY 2010 changes are rather minor (new idrive, etc.), but having worked in the auto industry many years ago, the first days of production always seems to have a few problems, since often many unseen "fixes" are lumped together for implementation with the MY changeover.

If you have a production #, then go to BMWusa and set up an Account. You can then check the status of your order.

Thanks,
Like the other person said, sign up on BMW's website under owners circle, or call BMW 1-800-831-1117...

I've found the phone call is more up to date than the website. Just wait for options and pick order production status. Have your production number or VIN ready...

We've put $ down on one, but have no idea of prices and I don't have an order #. Current lease isn't up until Feb '10 and I'm trying to stall the build as long as possible. The dealer will try to give our October build slot to someone else, so we can get in line in November. You can't build a 2010 model on bmwusa's site yet, but I found the $4500 ecocredit to be pretty compelling. Other than iDrive, anyone been able to find if there are any minor cosmetic facelift changes planned. Some spyshots have shown pictures of an X6 bumper, making it look more like the X5 M, with the larger air intakes. I'm not a fan. Just curious.

I asked the salesman if we could save another 7% by arranging for european pickup. He said he would be happy to make arrangements for us to do that, but we wouldn't realize any savings as they are made in Spartanburg. Oops. Good answer though!

It appears that the BMW web server updates on late Saturday evening................not sure if it does other days of the week too. I received my production number on Friday, and changed a couple of things at the dealership Friday night.

When I set up the vehicle on BMWUSA Saturday morning, it still showed my old option listing. This morning, it had the updates included.

I don't know when it moves from "on order" to "schedule for production" if it shows a build date (perhaps someone on the thread can comment). Others have posted that status "111" means there is a build date. You may have to call your CA or BMW 800 ## for that detail.

I noticed on my CA computer that he had a similar screen with the time line, yet beneath each status milestone, there were other indicators that showed where the vehicle was in the process. For example, under the "on order" icon, there were 5 or 6 additional circles that were grey that had numbers and descriptions.........IE # 57 AG ...#67 ???. so I assume as it passed thru the acceptance steps at BMW (parts availability, option matching, etc.) it gets to a point where they can be sure of a production start date.

There are so many variables that rely upon availability of specific options, build rates, production schedules etc. that must go into getting our vehicles manufacturerd. I'm in the heavy diesel engine business, and it typically takes about 30 days for an engine to be built....with all the various options that a customer or OEM chooses. So for us to be so anxious about getting a car produced in 6 weeks......especially in economic times when vendor/suppliers have all cut back on staffing....... it reminds me to be more considerate with my customers and communicating with them along the way as they wait on their orders from me.

So much for philosophy on a Sunday morning..............

I ordered my X5 Diesel at the End of August. It went into production last thursday the 24th. The phone order status system stated that it will be complete on 10/2.

Now, how long will it take to train it to the Cali VPC, and then get it to Utah. Thoughts?

Yeah, when I use to be in the business a long time ago, a lot of production was scheduled based on paint color... grouping the same paint bodies together for production, and sequencing the "same paint" groups in sequence, going from lighter colors to darker.

I don't know if they still do this with the newer technology, but it would make sense.

(I know several years ago Harley bought a state of the art system which could paint colors in any sequence, one-by-one, and had terrible problems sorting it out and making it work).

Interesting... I ordered our 2010 X5 35d on 8/27 and although it still says "scheduled for production" online with no production date I just spoke with BMW NA and they said it had a "production pack" which according to them means it's going to begin very shortly. Not sure about it all but thought I would share and see if anyone else had the same info. Since I hear that they group them in similar batches, ours is titanium silver with black perforated leather and all options except third row seat and running boards. We are also planning on a Performance Center Delivery.

If anyone else has any info please let me know.

It seems to randomly switch back and forth from having my options and not having my options.

Yeah, that's strange. I just went in to Track mine and it lists some of my packages but is missing the Active Steering I ordered. I hope this is just a glitch in the system.

Mine missing the Adaptive Drive and has the wrong color. My dealer assures me it is in the system correctly.

I ordered my '10 X5D on August 23rd! Still, when I call it says that it has no confirmed production date. I guess this is a good thing as there are no posted lease or finance rates for the 2010 X5's yet. If someone has any info on the rates for 2010's could you please let us know. Thanks

I was quoted 3.9% Finance rate....Although it's not on the BMWNA site yet, I was told by my client advisor that this rate is good thru Novermber 2nd......On another note, I just got my VIN# and checked the 1-800 # regarding the status of my build....It's now in Production.....WHOOO-HOOOO!!!!

Expected Date of Completion: October 8th
Placed order on September 17th
My dealer had (3) slots for 2010 X5 Oct. allocations. Two were already taken and I was lucky to get the final slot.

Now, the wait begins....Delivery from SC to NJ should take a few days, but I expect it to be ready for pick-up the weekend of Oct. 17th.

I ordered my 35d 8/28. Still no production date from web site or 800#, although dealer said it's scheduled for week of 10/11. On any given day, the web site may or may not have my option list correct. It frequently doesn't list the Adaptive Drive, but today, it's shown.

I too wonder whether anyone has a sense of the timing from production date to delivery??

I'm taking delivery at the Performance Center so I'm really hoping I don't have a long wait from completion to delivery but I'm still not scheduled yet. I don't know if the production number has anything to do with it but were # 7442849. Anyone with completion dates care to share their prod numbers? Maybe they run in or near a sequence...

7442943, ordered 8/28, and no production date. I'm thinking the production number has more meaning than merely sequence of build.
