jaax3: how did you find the production information? From the web, your dealer or the reps or automated phone at BMWNA?

I've seen no change online nor on the automated phone line. Dealer seems annoyed when I ask - once every 7-10 days. But I was able to find out from reps at BMW NA that I had been given a "production pack on 9/25". They say that means I should go into production anytime between now and a week or so from now but they still have no completion date or confirmed production date.

FYI, I just let me CA know that we had a "production pack" when he checked he said we are now in 112 status, no longer 111.

I use the phone number:
1-800-831-1117
And if you don't want to talk to the operator (she never understands what I'm saying):
Dial number
When operator starts talking, press 2
When operator starts talking, enter production number
When operator starts talking, press 1
Listen for reply

Blair You're production is 10-8 and you have another 6 weeks for PCD ? Was that the earliest you could get, or did you string it out some ?

PC wouldn't allow scheduling till we hit 112 status (this week). When asked today the 17th was the date they gave.

I had a "Week 41" scheduled slot... Called today (Oct 1) and it is done with productions, at final QC!

I've gone through this before, but the next month will be very frustrating. Nobody knows a damn thing: the car is in some kind of infomational time warp. It just disappears until it shows up somewhere in California...

Do they truck it from Spartanburg, or train, or even put it on a boat???

I'm Vermillion Red. It finished production yesterday and the website shows that it is at the VPC. I'm betting that's in SC. It blows through the en-route,transport status messages. I guess we have no visibility until it hits the dealer.

Turned in my 328i today and finally got my X5. '09 X5 3.0i - Titanium Silver / Black.

My truck was made during the first week of September, which also was the end of the '09's. As of now, all are 2010's and my next order will be a 2010 - Jet Black / Saddle Brown.

Hope you guys get your X's soon!

I called my CA today to ask if he had any info on the status of my car, as the 1-800 number still says'......no confirmed production date.' He said mine was scheduled to be built during the 43rd week. Well, at least I have that going for me! He said he has 12 deposits on X5d's and mentioned this was the highest demand vehicle they have had in a while.

So mine was a week 41. Finished production last week. On Saturday it was at "Step .01 Schedule for Production " on the website... then today it is to step .04 "At preparation Center"... this means it passed "02 Awaiting Transport", "03 En Route" yesterday!

Right.... The website as well as the phone are pretty useless for spartanburg cars... From Germany, all those steps would involve days, sea transport, etc, until the car hit the US Prep Center. With USA builds they pass all through those steps in a day, then who knows what before they arrive at your local site. (For PCDs it is pretty painless- they usually allow 3+ weeks of slack between end of planned production and your visit)

CA was just too far to drive!

Cool 2010 BMW X5 35d

I'm currently stationed in Wiesbaden Germany. I just completed the order for my new 2010 BMW X5 35d (Mid-September) and can't wait to recieve it. I finally decided also to official join the bimmerfest gang, there allot of good people and information. Anyway, I actually wanted to find out more information about the BMW chip sets/electronic control speed, in that, the european version of the 2010 BMW X5 35d is about 20 mph faster than it's american cousin. I know that's probably because of the chip set and/or electronically control governers, correct? I wanted to find out if it's allowed via warranty agreements to get the chip set changed to say the european set to increase the top speed?

Also does anyone know how to track production of a order via pentagon military car sales? I tried to create an account via the BMW North America website, but it doesn't except my information.

I realize that no one has received theirs yet but I thought BMWMC might know. Has the new iDrive been confirmed in the 2010 X5?

Thanks in advance. About to place an order but would love to have confirmation beforehand.

The 2010 x5/x6 manual is now available from bmwusa.com. The iDrive section shows the new iDrive controller and the "top view" camera system.

Ordering today. Going with a 3.0 for my wife. She is actually excited too, which is unusual for her since she typically rolls her eyes at me when I talk about cars.

Yes, as far as i know the 2010 has the new i-drive. That was the goal for everything 2010 to have the new i-drive. What color combo you ordering?

Monaco Blue and Sand Beige.

Got the sport package but am trying to see if they can delete the Anthracite headliner. My wife doesn't hate the anthracite with the Sand Beige, but it does look a little odd on the B-Pillar where the anthracite comes 1/2 way down the pillar to about the seatbelt release.

Not a big deal, but just something she noticed.

Production supposed to be around the 30th of October.

Thanks for your hard work BMWMC (and the other employees). She is excited.

Ordered 2010 X5 35d around August 25th. My dealer (Phoenix) at the time said he only had one allocation. I've been checking for over a month online and by phone. My sales associate told me last week it was scheduled for production in the second week of October and today both the phone system and online show that it is now in production! The phone system states estimated completion date of 10/19. Does anyone know how long it usually takes from production completion to arrival at the dealership? I'm still in the dark on that one awaiting information from my dealer. Since I need to sell my current car, I would love a little bit of notice.

Mine is Titanium, for those who are still placing faith in the color theory of production order.

How are production numbers assigned ?

Are production numbers assigned by BMW on a sequencial basis ? There was a post somewhere from a Canadian poster that had a number that was a different sequence than the US posters.

I've had a production number for about 4 weeks, but I still show 111 status from my conversation with my CA yesterday. My order shows as Priority 1, but I don't know what that means.

I've used the 800 number a few times, and have checked random numbers that are less than mine. On a PN that was 9 less than mine, the message indicated that the vehicle was produced and in transit ?

So I'm a bit confused. Is there a way to decipher the production number to know anything, or do dealers get this assigned by the factory once they put an order in ?

I can imagine that the allocations might be the ultimate issue, yet with the ability to build 250 units per day, and with this economy, I would think they're processing orders as fast as they can. I would think that they invoice their dealer the moment the X5 leaves the plant.

The diesel engine may also be an issue that caught them by surprise. I assume that it's built in Germany, not the US, and if its a different version than what they sell in the EU, then they might have a supply issue
