Oil Change Intervals and Turbo Issues lately

I have not had any problems with my turbos, but I only have about 34k on the odo. I've been reading about the turbo problems lately and wondering if anyone is changing their oil more often or the oil filters? It isn't that expensive to do it out of service really and thinking it might save the turbos later on. Anyone?

I have 70K on my 535i, and I change the oil at 7.5K, and have had no problems at all.

I think it is a bit overkill, but I do it anyway, since it is cheap, does no harm, keeps fresh oil around, and I would rather err on the side of too frequent oil changes rather than squeezing as many miles as I can.

70K, and, when I stomp it, the twins spool up, and still press me back.

5k mile oil changes here. Contaminants in the oil and cause all kind of issues in the future so why even take the risk?

Owning a "Forced-Induction" car always has that "what if" in the back of my mind. I treat my cars right though. I will say that I'm strictly using Royal Purple every 5k miles which for me is only one oil change per year (average @ 8k annually). In fact I recently had a oil change with the RP and I swear the car is idling smoother!

I use Lubromoly 5w-30.......much better oil than the regular BMW stuff. Do the research gentleman. Whatever you use make sure it has the BMW LL approval

Yep, I change my oil every 5k miles and every third oil change will get done by the dealer since I'm still under warranty. Some will say it's overkill, but for me it's piece of mind and at a not very expensive price, especially with these twin turbo engines.

Oil Change Intervals and Turbo Issues lately

Cost of oil and filters is nothing compared to the price of new turbos or engine parts. I think that 7,500 miles is the most that you can go. Motul is a good brand. Fresh oil and filters always help, not hurt.
