Personally I like the way threads and sub threads are organized Hierarchical at the ".org". Threads here sort of just run on and on without structure.

message board format? It is lots like this but also has the post title and subposts like the .org Dunno what sw they use over there.

I thought my browser was just getting goofy with the placement of the horizontal lines. I see now.

As others have pointed out, the best combo of organized thread layout with added modern features is AudiWorld. I completely dislike the hidden nature of the sub-elements of threads on UBB. One has no way of knowing what interesting BS has developed way down a thread from the main page.

The vertical line on some post like "LilEccentricJ" is tabbed over a little bit to the right. I see now, it is just that the cell that his name is in is a little wider to fit his longer name. I was hoping that tabbing over was some sort of feature.
