Want to see what could happen to a 21 year old shifter?

So I had problems shifting into the 3rd and the 5th gear of the E30, and I think this picture explains why.

Wow, great time to get a Z3 or a Z4 shifter upgrade.

Use this place, just got mine in.

http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...72&catalogid=0

Order this stuff:

25117543193 SHIFT LEVER 1 $61.68
25111220439 SPEC. SHIM 4 $0.20
25117519669 BUSH BEARING 1 $9.54
25117571899 SECURING CLIP 2 $0.53

That is the codes on the left that you place in the part number box.
They are WICKED cheap, and all OEM.

I saw the title of this thread and the picture is pretty much what I envisioned.

What? if he has to replace it why not upgrade? My Dealer wanted 80 bucks for the the shift lever alone.

not everyone wants a shorter throw.

"Use this place" "Order this stuff:" .. sounds more like commands then advice. judging by his other posts im sure he knows what he wants in a new shifter.

Guys guys.

The Z shifter sounds interesting, I will look into it.

Now, hopefully this is the last piece of 21 year old thing that breaks. I think I have replaced just about everything else.

i had a Z3 M shifter in my red car, its the shortest OEM shifter available . completely hated it. super notchy and gears were literally a half inch apart from eachother, you could take it out of gear and go into another gear without even knowing it. my new car has the stock e36 325i shifter which is a nice mix between stock and short throw. its not super short and its not notchy. its on the border. its a very nice setup.

there is always more things that will need replacing

i misquoted.. "shockmounts" http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BMW-E...QQcmdZViewItem
im positive you have them on your vehicles as well
the rubber bushings go bad causing the new bilstien shocks you just installed to clunk up and down....
it was a sad day
