ground wire issue

Can anyone tell me where to locate the ground wire for my '97 528i? It won't start and it won't jump. It makes a clicking sound when I try to start. the engine won't turn over. Could it be a bad ground wire?

Could be a bad battery?

There are several ground points on the chassis. There will be a bunch of brown wires terminated to a screw at various places.

One is under the hood, and another is in the trunk, and one in the DME box. There are more, but I don't know where they are.

Oh,

I just realized you live in Santa Cruz, CA.....the Salt Belt!!!

The large Ground Cable is on the passenger's side next to the AC compressor.
- Remove the Splash Shield (8-mm screws)
- Look up toward the AC area, you will see it.
- Remove it, clean it and apply some grease on the connection areas x2 to protect it from salt.

Please post a Follow-up what you find.
