New E30

Well Ive had E46s since I could drive (3 years) and now I've ventured into the E30 world. Just bought my first one yesterday. I already love it but I can't drive it until I put a new flex disc in it. Does anyone know of any good DIY step by step instructions sites or threads I could use?

teh search feature is your friend. but in case there isnt:

jack the car up and support on stands. go under there with a 19mm socket on a ratchet, and a 19mm fixed spanner. look on the driveshaft side of the gearbox and you will see the flex disk, aka a guibo. there are 6 bolts you need to do, 3 holding the disk to the driveshaft and 3 to the output shaft of the gearbox. undo the three or 4 you can get to, and then drop the car down and roll the car forwards a 1/4 turn of the wheels (gearbox in neutral) and then jack the car back up again to get to the other two that were on top which you should now see. you may find it easier to just jack the back off the ground and turn a wheel.after moving the drivehaft bolts, slide the driveshaft towards the rear of the car and then out of the way, and pull the guibo off. installation is the opposite, and make sure you torque the bolts correctly.

you might find it benificial to change the center support bearing at the same time. will make the whole process longer but they are a common wear item on the E30, and will mean you wont need to worry about it again. you need to remove the guibo (as well as the exhaust and heat sheilding) to do that so you might as well seeing as you are halfway there
