The magic Pipe is $78? I bought the original one from the dealer and it was $110 with the rear o-ring. Also from what I been told of Dealer parts is that I get 2 years of warranty and if within that time the part is broken or has failed, BMW will replace it and change the defected part for you with at no charge as long as you have the original receipt.

Allgermanauto:

AGA-N62-6061 Cooling Pipe Exp $548.00

are you serious?

there should not be any coolant in this reservoir ! Its there just because your pipe was leaking!, otherwise whats the point of this pipe?

Sorry if I did not make it clear. The reservoir which is where the Coolant Pipe should be dry. The coolant tank I was talking about is on top of this picture.

sure, this one should be full, otherwise you will get a message on your idrive: like coollant is low

also make sure you bleed the air out the system. check your both hoses after start and temperature gauge.
both of them should be hot after thermostat has opened. But i think this system should bleed the air automatically.

Yes, fill it up to max indicator line. You will see that on the cap.

All German Auto kit includes "Cam. Adjuster O-ring ($3.61 each)" and "Water Pump Gasket". Why, you aren't touching these are you?

the coolant pipe replacement went well if you take yoru time. On the 2002 745i where is there a temperature guage. i dont see one. and that is NOT a stupid question...haha.
i bled mine for an hour with the cap off then rdrove it for 30 minutes and let it sit overnight before putting more coolant in it.
All isgood now.

Hey Guys,
Im putting the engine back together after about a week of work. I have replaced the water pump, thermostat, coolant pipe and a few gaskets. Also the alternator mounting bracket which broke when being disassemble for the coolant pipe change. I order all the parts from the deal and this part was special order that should get here by Wednesday of this week. I was looking at replace the Cover Cap with Gasket for Engine Block Valley Part # 11147507278 which is # 1 in the picture below because they don't sell the seal/gasket that's on it separate. The dealer has to special order this part as well and will take about 3 business days to get here for about $140.
I found some sites online that have it and say its "Manufacturer: GENUINE BMW" and cost between $75 to $90.
Do you guys think I should order it online or somewhere else like the dealer?

Thank you.

Hello Guys,
I have finally finished the coolant pipe replacement last night after 2 weeks or so.
I also changed some other things like gaskets, hoses and water pump with the termostat while I was at it with the engine taken apart. Just 2 things broke on the process of disassembly, the alternator bracket and I believe it was the passenger VDO sensor that is in the back of the valve head. Other then that everything went smooth and i'm glad I have the car running. It took a while but was a good experience and I got to know my car better so future reference.

I would like to Thank everyone that helped me and Bimmerfest for having a great BMW community.

Thank you.

What's the purpose of this coolant pipe that BMW didn't cast it as one piece? Would it be ok to JB Weld at both ends?

I've used JB Weld on a few radiators in the past and that held up well to the pressure and temperature; never giving me any problems.

The failure point is actually the oring, and not the pipe itself.

The BMW pipe is one piece, but that means its hard to take out, hence the AGA being a 2-piece design
