Ron: Why the non-M sidemirrors and gills?

Ron,

Looking at your MC I was just wondering why you have changed the rearview-mirrors and "side-gills" to the non-M versions?

I suppose the mirrors are for a better/bigger view?

For me the M-mirror and gills are what defines the MC, so just wondering...

[QUOTE=Anders]Ron,

>>>Correct. Both mirrors have the convex glass with no writing. I also like the look.

For me the M-mirror and gills are what defines the MC, so just wondering...
>>>I prefer the cleaner look of the non M ones. The M ones look tacked on to me. Something BMW did to make the M look different. Plus it gets rid of some chrome.
My front grilles are the old style without the chrome slats.
I think that the non M front bumper looks better too.

Ron,

So you like the Z Coupe look better!

I agree that the non-M mirrors probably provides a better and larger view, especially with the convex mirror glass.

But to me, the little special touches are what defines the M BMWs - just look at the E46 M3 and E39 M5 mirrors - but each to his own of course - certainly the M mirrors and front bumper look sportier and more aggressive than the non-M?

Anyway, FWIW, I also have the "old" non-chromed grilles, but that is probably because mine is a '99 model...

Ron,
So you like the Z Coupe look better!
>>>Yes. I know at least one other person that does too.
I agree that the non-M mirrors probably provides a better and larger view, especially with the convex mirror glass.
>>>They certainly do. First used them in my '86 325es.
But to me, the little special touches are what defines the M BMWs - just look at the E46 M3 and E39 M5 mirrors - but each to his own of course - certainly the M mirrors and front bumper look sportier and more aggressive than the non-M?
>>>It's whatever you like or want to do. I share the information of my experiences. I'm not saying that you have to like them or do them. I do many things just to see what they look like. Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't.
Anyway, FWIW, I also have the "old" non-chromed grilles, but that is probably because mine is a '99 model
>>>Looks much better this way contrast wise. Will be eliminating the grilles completely if I can come up with a finished look without them.
