2006 M5 winter tires and rims

Hey guys,

I am in search of winter tires and rims now. Although my car has 19 inch stock rims, I was thinking about getting 18 inch rims for winter. Do you know what tire size should I look for? Any other ideas or thoughts? Maybe advice?

Thanks!

check www.tirerack.com they have a complete 18" package with wheels and tires for like $1,100 or so. Going to order a set myself.

Thanks, I have already looked at that one. I kind of wanted to get better looking rims. Cause what they offer looks pretty bad, there is just one rims to choose from =(
Do you think it will look ok? Which tires are you purchasing with those rims anyways?

Those ones that are on close out for $150 each. It's a good deal for 4 wheels and tires. They're snow tires, it's winter, the car's going to look like sh!t anyway. That's my rational at least.

I used to be one that always bought the cheapest rims for my winter wheel/tire change out. The problem is that you have to look at your car for 6 months of the year with crappy wheels!

As you have found out, for the M5, finding 18" good looking wheels is NOT easy! Alas, that is the smallest size you can fit on the M5 and the one that will give you the best snow traction.

BMW it turns out, makes an 18" wheel specifically designed for the M5 for winters. It is style 184

http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/e60...ct-ts810s.html

The problem (as you can imagine), is that they are EXPENSIVE and hard to find used. There is one for sale on ebay
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/OEM-B...Q5fAccessories

alas, you would still need three more.

As far as snow tires go, I loved my Dunlop M3s. BMW however, equips this wheel with Conti WinterSports if you order from a BMW dealer (yes, they have a full tire/wheel winter package for the car). You can save some money doing this and I find the Conti's to be better than the Blizzak LM-22s I had prior to this.

Good luck - PM me if you want more info.

yes I know they look like crap but the car is actually drivable in the snow so functionality over looks. At least that's what I keep telling myself.

i have a three oem m5 wheels two rear and one front, there in good condition, i know your looking for a set. all you need to do is get a front wheel and a set of snow tires. there the exact kind you have now on the vehicle.
