ANYONE take delivery of 2010 x5 35D orders?

I am amazed by all the stories of waiting and excuses. Please post if you've actually received a 2010 X5 35D as well as dates your're getting told they will be delivered.

CA says my 35d is on the truck, and will be at dealer tomorrow. I should take delivery Friday. I'll keep you posted.

Mine arrived in Oxnard VPC on Monday, 10/19.

Scheduled for a truck 400 miles to Northern CA for 10/23. No note of a hold, but 4 days hanging around VPC isn't entirely usual give the volume of cars the dealer usually gets...

Just spoke with CA. While he was told yesterday that my 35d is on the truck and should reach him today, he's worried because he has not yet been invoiced. I'm thinking everyone at XOutPost is right, and I won't get my car until the end of the month. BMW told me on 10/9 that the car was released to carrier -- wrong!

Update:

Notwithstanding the lack of certification, my CA said the car arrived at his store, and I can come pick it up whenever!

Not sure when I can do it, maybe tomorrow or Saturday...

You may have the first 35d delivered to the dealer in the entire country. My CA, who has been expecting my car for a week, says the dealers have not be told what's going on. He now has a 2010 3.0 in stock that arrived this week, but nothing else.

Weird.

Someone might have screwed up, since it was actually not scheduled to get ON the truck until today... they might have jsut said 'there is an empty slot headed to XYZ, toss this X5 on there'

I'll pick it up tomorrow. Dealer is 120 miles away, so not just a 'nip down and grab it' trip...

Mine arrived at the dealership tonight. I went over to take a look, but will wait until Tuesday for delivery. The dealer has a couple things to do to it (tint, trailer hitch, etc..)

So, I can confirm that the '10 diesels have been released.

Got home a while ago, but was trying to finish some major work on the old MDX that is sitting smack in the middle of the two car section of the garage... do not want Baby X out over night.

I only drove a bit, wife drove the most. Handling and accel were as expected. Nothing remarkable to report quality wise. Electronics just blow me away! I'm a real bad judge since I haven't used any Idrive, but this seems SOOO fast and intuitive to me. Paired up fine with the iphone, plugged in the iPod, instantly working. No muss, no fuss.

Apparently you can pick a destination on google maps, on the web, and send it to your 'BMW Account' and it will sync up as a destination.... new to me, but again I am a noob with BMW electronics. (Last BMW is 2004 with 2004/5 upgrades)

I took delivery 'sans detail'... detail tomorrow.

Oh, I got the saddle interior- interestingly, the carpets are black - which is fine by me. My 2009 was sand with beige carpets that just overwhelmed. The black carpet and lower trip sets off the rich saddle very nicely....

Questions? (Just remember I cant tell you what is 'different' since I don't know what 'was'.

best-

A

PS BMW now offers NEW EXTENDED WARRANTIES!! Announced Oct 12, 2009. No longer just the OOP which was 6/100k and coverage of CPO. I will post separately, but they have 3 plans with varying coverage- AND different miles/years. Of course, nobody should buy these now with the new car, just wait until closer to the end of the factory warranty...

I'm curious, did they switch the license plate lights over to LED's in the X5? I notice they've been doing that with the other models (3, 5, etc).

Thanks.

I'm out of town on business, and it is the wife's car.... other than breaking my back Sunday with a complete [Strip-Polish-4 coat Zaino-plus detail inside and trim] ..nothing new to report!

**She** is very enamored with the acquisition. As is my 17 year old son.

No status from CARB. Certification has not posted, and as one expects, they are not providing much explanation.

I suspect it is a combination of some business issue and massive incompetence within the system- not individual, but how they deal with 'non-routine' issues and ommunication. By design, communication systems to the public are designed to transfer very narrow (and controlled) information... when something unexpected happens, you get just noise and not the true story.. My 2 cents

I
California CARB signed the executive order on October 20. Just not posted yet, but I did get a pdf.

All cars would have been held at 'the last BMW controlled point' until this was signed. This would be a VPC in Spartanburg or Oxnard... they should not have let it go onto a common carrier truck to a dealer before that date. I think...
