Euro Exhaust for M Coupe S54 - Resonator yes or no ?

I'm converting to Euro headers/cats and am now debating whether or not to add the resonator as well.

Am I correct in assuming that the resonator has absolutely no effect on exhaust "performance" (positive or negative) and that it is strictly to assist in smoothing/muting the exhaust noise?

If this is true than I can assume that the choice of adding a resonator [or not] is entirely subjective according to the sound I like ?

I currently have Supersprint mufflers - they will stay with the new header/cat setup.

Thanks, Karl

Euro

I have the EURO setup with Dinan mufflers, no resonators. I love the sound, it is not loud or overbarring, just slightly deeper than with stock headers.
