Mercedes to reveal future F1 plans
By Pablo Elizalde Monday, November 16th 2009, 10:30 GMT Mercedes-Benz is to announce its plans for the future of Formula 1 in a press conference today, with the German car maker set to confirm its increased involvement at Brawn. The manufacturer will hold a press conference with Dr, Dieter Zetsche, head of Mercedes-Benz Cars, as well as motorsport chief Norbert Haug. It is believed Mercedes will announce it is buying into the Brawn GP team, confirming reports that first appeared in September this year. The Brackley-based squad has used Mercedes engines this season to win both the drivers' and the constructors' championships. Mercedes is also set to reveal plans about its shareholding at the McLaren team, of which the parent company Daimler owns a 40 per cent stake. The German car maker is expected to confirm it will remain as engine supplier for McLaren for the long term.

Oh boy.
When I heard this in the morning, I thought, "Räikkönen won't be driving for McLaren now." Heidfeld and Rosberg to Mercedes GP, and Button (with Vodafone's blessing) to McLaren. Kovalainen only has one shot: Renault. And Glock will probably get that seat. |

More and more rumors confirming Button is close to a deal with McLaren. Somewhat surprised but I guess he is pissed they are not willing to meet his salary demands.

Button will get a three year deal with McLaren, 7 million Euros per season.
This means that Räikkönen will not drive Formula One in 2010. Shocking how things can get turned upside down in three months. I will go into therapy now. |

MSC or RSC?
I kinda hope MSC stays retired. Him coming to Ferrari last year to sit in for Massa is one thing, but I just can't see him drive a full season for anyone other than Ferrari. Of course, I also thought Brett Favre would never play for any team other than the Packers...

Glock to Manor.
Räikkönen is negotiating to get in to WRC for 2010. Some big news is coming a bit later this evening (Finland time). Apparently, Red Bull (Citroën sponsor) is offering Räikkönen double the money that they currently pay Loeb.

It'd be news... I am not surprised nobody is negotiating heavily with Raikkoenen. He's too much of a gamble for the money he'd likely want...

And then keep in mind the money that he will get from Santander for the next two years. He wants money... In other news, Grönholm will drive several WRC rallies for Ford in 2010. Do we need a combined 2010 Formula One/WRC thread?

I would be very pissed if I was Loeb at the moment. Let's see... FIA wouldn't give him a superlicence... he can't find a drive in F1, not even in Red Bull sponsored car... now Red Bull will pay Kimi double what Seb makes just to get him to drive for the team... This is not right, not for arguably the best rally driver in history of the sport and definitely most accomplished.
I hope he gets out of his contract, goes to Ford and kicks everybody's ass. I don't see Kimi succeeding in WRC or whatever it's gonna be called, not in one year. On another note, Kubica loves rally, he tried it again last week in Italy on tarmac but crashed out after only 24km while leading his class. He says he's committed to F1 at the moment but I see him succeeding in rally if he switched early enough.
