Matching dash light color and need help removing reading light lenses
As for coloring the light with sharpies, I'd recommend doing them as I had originally stated: Two coats of ORANGE and one coat of RED...that is, if you want to just about exactly match the color of the dash lights (which was my intention). IMO, doing them in only red is OK, but the combination of colors has a "better" look.
I'd like to color the rear reading lights, but I'm having trouble removing the lenses. I know that there are two slots into which one places a flathead to pry the lenses off; but as I try it, the lenses don't want to come out and I'm worried that if I apply more pressure, the lenses would crack. Could someone give me a help here? Thanks. |

Have you considered sharpying your headlights too. That should complete your brothel look.

Hey, it is easy enough to do-give it a try as you can always undo it. And, in no way does it have a "brothel look" or a ghetto look. I'm not into excessive modding (hotwired V-1, Garmin GPS, ipod/Dice, chrome exhausts, and full BMW alarm system...and that's it). I like wood better than aluminum. The lighting goes much better with the interior than does the white light, IMHO. BTW, I didn't color the two overhead map0 lights, and once I can get the reading light lenses off, I will only color the light that goes on/off with the door. Overall, a rather conservative approach.

If you are going to do the footwell lights, I suggest not even bothering with removing the lenses (although this is easily done). You can color the outside of the lens with orange and red and get the "dash light effect." Or, you can do whatever colors you like.
OK guys, who will give me some tips on how to remove the rear reading light lenses without breaking them? I could color over the portion of the lenses that go on with the door opening, but IMO that would be ghetto. |
