X3 Bumper Repair
I have a 2008 X3. I want to try and fix my front bomper myself before I return the lease. The bottom of my front bumper (below the fog lights) is cracked. I am attaching a picture so you can get an idea of the damage. Disregard the hole cause that is where the trim peice goes to surround the fog light.
What I was thinking is to sand/file down the edge of the crack a bit then using some sort of epoxy or mighty putty from the back to join the crack together. Then sand it down and paint it. I know It sound simple and Im sure its gonna be alot fo hard work. 1. Anyone know or have instructions as to how to take off the front bumper? 2. Any recommendations on epoxy and paint to use (Jet Black) 3. Am I crazy for even trying this? Any tips or comments would be much appreciated Last edited by sleeperz321; 11-02-2009 at 09:05 AM. |

That's a rip right though the plastic, so really you should be looking at a Plastic Weld, it really is
the best way to hold the pieces together. Here is an example; But now you need the kit, and they run $80 and up, add rod and paint, so say $100 total. So my recommendation would be (assuming you don't have a kit), for such a small job, just take it to an auto body shop and find out the charge, or if you want to save a little, just take the bumper For bumper removal see: http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...per+removal+x3 Last edited by John320; 11-03-2009 at 08:43 AM.
