Jakes Maintenance Monday

Alrighty, today I was able to take care of a few items on my list. First I cleaned my idle control valve and made a vid that I am working on right now. Then I changed my spark plug boots. All of them were messed up and I was able to get Bremi boots for $4.50 each (and a video on that of course) and finally I fixed the wiring on my passenger side fog light so my HID lights up right away. (I had a problem and I needed to touch the wiring for it to light up).

The reason for my to do the first two items was not only for what I will explain, but for regular maintenance anyways. My idle in neutral and park is around 700-750. BUT, when I'm in drive or reverse it drops to 500-550 most of the time. After a good amount of driving the car starts to vibrate a lot in idle.... I know a lot of members have that problem. I spoke to Bill and we pretty much are almost 100% certain it's the torque convertor or some other transmission part. The only left that is not transmission related are the engine mounts.

I already changed my boots, plugs, fuel filter, air filter, intake camshaft sensor, disa, cleaned the ICV, used chevron techron and some other things that I can't remember. No luck.

The ICV was STUCK inside and didn't even move when I pulled it out, after cleaning it moves freely without a problem. The car sure is freaking RESPONSIVE like hell now Just need to do the vanos seals.

Here are the pics for now.

This towel was BRAND NEW. Look at it after some cleaning

Good stuff - Looking forward to the video.

Quick question on the Bremi parts - did you replace the whole coil pack or just the boots? If it was the coil, are they recent parts and not some old stock from someone's shelf?

Many of the original Bremi coils in 2002-2004 had problems that led to a recall. Wouldn't want your upgrade to put you back into that boat.....

Thanks my friend. The idle problem DID NOT go away unfortunately. I am doing a lot of research in regards to that matter.

Like I stated, they needed to be changed anyways. You can see the old ones were pretty much eating themselves alive, lol.

So did I. Me and smolck have been talking about this all day, it's tricky as hell. He thinks it has to be something electrical or fuel related.

Solidjake, if you find the low idle solution, let us know. Mine is not 550, but 620 rpm but it's still low.

Though he has wracked up quite a post count on Fanatics lately. Guess he wants to hang with "the cool kids".
