question about a Box in the trunk
I was lookin at some used X3 today & I noticed that some had a plastic box under the cargo floor in the trunk to the left on the battery & some didn't...just wondering whats in it & if its important? thx BTW I really enjoyed driving the X3's today a ton of fun for its size..

I have a 08 E83 and mine has one. If my memory serves me correctly is has a tool symbol on it. It pops out and items can be stored under it. Can't quite figure what its real purpose is though.

What does the box look like? It could be the ski bag that fits into the rear seat and used when transporting skis - provides a waterproof bag that pokes through the seat, allowing skis from the trunk to enter the vehicle without causing a mess. It's part of the cold weather package. I have one in mine.

I'll guess it is the blanking plate that replaces the ski-bag cassette. It should only be there for X3s with the winter package (or the ski passthu if that was available separetly).

ski bag makes sense
its looked like a black plastic box it in a plastic bag with white packaging on top,,it makes sense that its the ski bag as some has cold weather & some didn't ..in my old Audi Avant the ski bag was attached to the ski pass. is this a enclosed ski bag that can be used separately or does it attach/zipper to the ski pass thru? any1 have a pic

Pics attached. The bag is attached to the box but the whole thing can of course be removed, leaving a hole in the seat, or replaced with the blank plate.
