Long Island Rim Repair Shop Recommendations?

Anyone have any recommendations for rim repair shops Ė to fix bent rims Ė on Long Island? I'm in Hewlett, NY and somewhere on the south shore of Nassau County (or close to JFK Airport) would be great.

Also, anyone know the going rate for same per wheel? Are discounts common for multiple rims? How easily are bent rims fixed? And how long should the process take?

Any additional insight on same appreciated; never attempted same before.

Thanks!

And anyone know if itís absolutely necessary to re-paint a rim after itís repaired for having been bent?

My rims are bent and Iíd prefer them not to be re-painted, as Iím concerned for loss of the original color, shine, finish and overall look, and the potential for a compromised quality that will not last / will chip / pit, etc.

Please advise.

Thanks!

One of my rims was dented. A mobile repair guy I found on the forum sanded it down, filled it, airbrushed it, and it looks just like new. Seems to be a pretty standard paint color. He hit it with a clear coat afterwards.

I just saw a van for this company (Alloy Wheel Repair Specialists) while I was driving on the LIE today:

http://www.awrswheelrepair.com/newyorkcity/

Don't know anything about them, but maybe you can search this forum to find out. Franchise that comes to you. Thought it was a clever idea.

I had an OEM wheel repaired once. It was probably bent just like yours. They had to paint it and it came out just like new. Perfect color match. I wouldn't worry about the re-paint if I were you.

How much does it cost to have the wheels replaced? Dealer price vs eBay vs craigslist vs repair?

I live in NJ and we have a ton of potholes, anyway out of all the places I've ever tried this place was the best and they also do same day service. They also accept wheels shipped, check out the website: wheel collision center, Bath, PA

Hi all,

Unfortunately, I'm about to deal with my first bent wheel on my BMW without having wheel and tire insurance. As previously mentioned, I live in Hewlett on Long Island.

The bend is on the inside at back of the wheel, so no painting or refinishing necessary, thankfully.

I visited two shops today: Elite in Plainview and Wheel-Fix-It in Freeport. Also called Long Island Rim Repair in Freeport last night. Al's Hubcaps is an absolute no go; experienced major run around there before.

Elite wants $80 for the wheel off of the car or $100 if I leave the car overnight, Wheel-Fix-It wants $75 and only accepts wheels off cars and Long Island Rim Repair wants $80 for the wheel off the car or $90 if I leave the car. Long Island Rim Repair also claims they can complete the work in 3 hours.

Anyone know which shops Rallye BMW or BMW of Freeport sublet wheel repair work to and how much either dealer charges for same? And anyone have any experience with any or all of the shops mentioned; any better than the others; quality of workmanship, customer service, etc.?

A friend recommended 212 Motoring in Brooklyn, but I believe they sublet the work just like the dealers do. I did, however, visit Phenomenal Vinyl today in Oceanside; seems like a legit operation that may give Detailing Dynamics of Mineola a run for the money, but DD remains king, no doubt.

Thanks!

Ive been using Al for years, but I think they hve fell off. Let me know where you find wouldn't hurt to have the info. I recently curbed one on my s550 and decided for the extra $$ to just buy a new wheel.

True; will do b!

The places mentioned seem to be the spots, but want to make the right decision.

I used On Site Wheel Repair to fix two wheels on my 2011 535 last summer. One was bent and one was cracked. They came and picked up the two wheels on Tuesday afternoon at about 2:00 pm and dropped them off on Wednesday by about 1:00 PM. There is one guy who does upstate work and another who does NYC area work. I paid $125 to fix, take out curb rash, and paint each wheel. You could not tell where the repairs were made and looked exactly like they did when new. The paint was flawless. (845) 558-4123 is their number.
