We got the regular GP Thunder 8500k H8 bulb. UNFORTUNATELY, once the low beams kicked in...the computer threw warnings and the angel eyes were shut off until the car was restarted. Note this is for a 2009 750Li.

Yep. That's the deal with those GP's.

Hummm you might want to use a different type of bulb. So far I didn't get any error on my 2011 740i
I am about to order another pair of led and test it out.
I am trying to avoid using HIDs cause it is pain in the ass to install it plus not guarantee it will work perfectly. But if necessary I will try it.

What is that bulb for?

I would like to change that yellow color to White as well. You know how to get access to it ?

Just got back from a concert--midnight. Let me tackle this tomorrow.

I feel ya about the HID's, but I think they will yield the best results. HID's are a pain coz you will need to figure how to make it work without flickering or throwing codes. I installed aftermarket HID's before on a nother vehicle and it was flickering like hell...a battery relay kit fixed it. Not sure how to run it on the BMW's...argh.

The Angel Eyes are H8 bulbs. So why can't you use H8 HID? You mount the ballast and place the bulb in there. I don't know why this can't be done. Is it a heat issue, or a error message issue?

Most likely an error message issue. In theory it would work but my money is on it wont....chances are you will need a relay kit or cancellers. It might be worth it if someone wanted to try

Yeah, I agree. I'll buy a kit made for BMW's (there is one) and plan to install it on the fogs. BUT, the kit will take a slight detour and be demo'd on the Angel Eyes first.

This ought to be interesting folks. I'm contacting the seller of this kit tonight to determine its fitment, voltage output, and heat generation. I plan to measure these myself anyway once I get the kit.

If it works, I will be the first, the only and the envy of all 7 BMW's on the planet. If it doesn't, I'll be the laughing stock.

Bill, sorry for the late reply. I went to my friend's shop yesterday and tried install the GPthunder HID Kit for the Angel Eye. It didn't work. It lights up when I started the car, then it turns off itself. It seems don't have enough power to fire it up. Here are the pictures.

Since it didn't work out, then I bought a pair of this GPthunder and try it. It is not as bright as the HID but so far I am happy with it.

I ordered the same LEDs but they tripped codes immediately (after 30 mins) - I also had difficulty fitting them in the socket....
I wound up getting the GP Thunders 7500k which look fine - not as bright but nice.

The Quest continues - just stepped by the local dealership and asked if I could fit the F10 / 5 Series LED bulbs and the service advisor was adamant I could not - I should have bought one and see myself... Someone any luck with those?
I did also wind up buying H3 GP Thunders 7500k for the swivel lights (or whatever they are called).... Should get these next week some time

I already went last week and talked about it. He said No as well. Cause the new designed 3 and 5 series. That LED thing is a whole head lights. Totally different than our 7 series. So there is no way we can just change the bulb and make it as bright as those.

The only options on our car is using HID for Angel Eye.

MBWorldz, is this the led gp thunder that you purchased?

It looks pretty good and both rings are lit. I installed the GP Thunder 8500 and the outer ring is not fully lit.

I also want to thank you guys for this thread, it is very helpful!

Exactly. They are so freaking retarded. Why our expensive 7 series don't deserve a better good looking Angel Eye??? And the 3 series got them. 100% we are willing to spend money to get a better looking car. They just have no brain.

Next week. I am going to change the low bean head light. The stock one doesn't look good. I got a pair of 8000k D1S bulb, I will replace the stock one. Just to match the color of my fog.

Yes, it is GP Thunder.
http://www.hidlightsusa.com/product.asp?id=E92-E93W

I don't know why people selling it so high. $169 a pair.

Sometimes we can't complain much about these type of bulb. Cause it is impossible to make them both have the same brightness. As long as the different is not too big, it should be ok.

You should also thank for member "BMR2009" He started this thread. As you know we all trying to make our 7 series look bad ass LOL.

As long as the socket is H8/H11 That should fit I believe. Too bad, they don't have something like 7000K and up. I like to be little Bright white/Blueish.

Damn. That was my best guess. I'm about to start cursing in the name of BMW (Break My Wallet).

It's time to get technical. I'm going to take some voltage readings off the angel eye female connector in "off" mode, "auto" mode, and "on" mode. I am curious to see if the voltage changes. I will also attempt to measure the current, if it doesn't fault in the process.

When I started this thread I knew there were more out there that couldn't possibly be happy with their piss yellow bulbs. Pretty sad really, when you think about it--BMW's flagship car gets the scraps. What a bunch of bs. Oh, and thanks for the spare too!

I feel very confident that together, we can come up with a workable solution. It's just pathetic that it's my retarded ass that has to figure this crap out for BMW. We are all taking risks attempting to modify our cars. Sad BMW doesn't step in and solve it. Oh well. I'll be back with some more information soon.

LOL ya unfortunately they are trying to avoid us to do any modifications on the cars.
Just like when I ask about the "Video in Motion" module. For the previous model of BMW 5 Series...or 3 series. They have the module that can do the video in motion.
But when BMW knows there are such things exist, they will get the product and test it themselves. And find a way to block it. So this year 2011 , there is none of them available. Even though I found one online claims that it works but still doubt that it will 100%. I don't want to pay $600 bucks just for that little wiring... and end up file a charge back.

Next Week, I will take my car to a local body shop. My friend will remove the front bumper and head lights , he will change my stock low beam D1S to 8000K. I can't wait to see the result. I just want it to match my fog lights.

What do you think about this type of LED H8?

Found that on ebay lol.

Negative. It won't be bright enough. Way too few LED's. Now if they cost ten bucks it might be worth the risk, but not anything more. It's a crap shoot now.
