Anyone have pinstriping?

Was in the body shop having a couple dings removed and it was suggested that a darker colored pinstripe on a silver grey X would look nice and break up the solid sides a bit. Don't know that I have ever seen pinstripes on one before although I haven't ever really looked either. Wadda ya think?

I think they were trying to sell you something to make more $$$.

Personally I think pinstripes went out of style around 1985. The only reason cars still have them is that dealers like to put them on and charge people big bucks for them. A roll of pinstripe tape costs $4 and they make a huge profit on it.

+1. I actually have removed the pinstriping from my last 2 vehicles that have had it. An X3 with it on there would look VERY out of place and break up the smooth lines of the vehicle.

+1.

Just. Don't. Do. It.

I spent hours carefully removing them from my beloved roadster upon delivery.

The last Buick I saw with pinstriping was a '53 Skylark at a GM Autorama. Have seen a ton of Fords, Chevs, Olds. Goats, and assorted other detroit iron with it added. Had a really nice hand striped dash design on a '53 Ford Vickie, with blue dash lights from J.C. Whitney too. No fuzzy dice though, didn't have room on the mirror with the graduation tassle there. Outgrew all that until I got a 7 series and found out it had an accent stripe from the factory! Who knew?
