From what I understand, Techron is just labeled differently for each auto company that uses/sells it but is no different in composition from what anyone can buy off auto part store shelves. If you find Techron for a cheap price, it doesn't mean it's not as good as the BMW labeled stuff.

If I'm looking for it I look for the name 'Techron' then? Will the name Techron always be on the label, regardless of who is selling it?

It's on sale right now at Advance Auto, along with some other stuff DIYers might find useful (like brake cleaner - BOGO).

I was at OReilly Autoparts store, they sell 2 types:
- Standard Techron 12 oz $5
- "Concentrate Plus" 20 oz. $8-9 (can't remember exact price).

I bought the Standard Techron and put it in my Snow Blower 200cc Tecumseh 4-cycle engine, "seems" to run smoother. Who knows. It may be all placebo effect LOL.

I put a bottle of Techron in my cars once every 3months or so. Probably money down the drain but what the heck.

Haha no worries man I was just mixin' it up. I'll have to hit Advance on the way home. That Techron is normally kinda pricey. I did notice recently that pep boys seems to have it cheaper than Advance when not on sale though.

I'm fairly certain that the last tank of shell V-power I bought was Shell 87. Fuel mileage went from 23mpg to 21mpg. It could just be the winter formula, too. (I'm trying V-power, as a change from Sunoco, so far not so good.)
Where do you get Sunoco in Vancouver?

I moved to after I posted. Chevron gas is at least as good as sunoco 94 except for the massive price gouging this hippie town has. Not sure about chevron in WA though. sferley can't get his dinan 540 to run right on blaine's gas.

Any website/link with Scientific data on Techron?

Rather than listening to my own and other "rumors" on how good Techron is, does anyone know any website/link/youtube on a scientific experiment by an independent third party testing agent that tests the injectors before and after Techron.
I'd love to see that as confirmation.

Hmm that might work for better fuel consumption. This is the best thing going though for the crank case.

Like STP? Is STP still sold? STP kept my old 61 Falcon running.

Richard Petty, anyone?

I performed a minor attempt at getting to the root of Techron back in post #21 of this thread - but I didn't address whether it actually works or not (mainly because I feel it's clearly marketed rather well - and we all know what marketing equates to ... i.e., the "big lie" ... which something like 75% of the population falls for).

Here's what I wrote back in post #21 as to "what" so-called Techron is:

Quote:
The MDS (material data sheet) apparently lists Techron contents as common solvents, most of which (if not all) are already in gasolines. Techron and Techron concentrate appears to be (almost exactly) the same fluid, except in 10x differences in concentration. Both appear to be 68% your basic petroleum-based solvent (i.e., methyl cyclohexane, aka naptha; Toluene, three different isomers of xylene, and ethyl benzene) ... and 32% polyether amines, which is a detergent for use in non-aqueous systems.

It's soap for gas ... no doubt ... but does it actually work?
Let's see if anyone has INDEPENDENT and BLIND studies of Techron (i.e., polyether amines) in gasoline, versus plain ole' gasoline for fuel injectors (and sending units).

PS: Cam: Did you want a study of polyether amines for fuel injector cleaning only or also for sending-unit cleaning?
