Question E21 Diesel???

Has anyone ever heard, read, or considered putting a diesel engine in an e21? It would likely be gray market, and would obviously require Extensive system overhaul. I know that even today there are some 3ers in Italy that are under 2 liters and diesel.

I guess if you want a slow, sluggish, expensive to fill pain in the ass e21 you could go diesel. Why? I will never care to know.

e30 324td (euro) and 524td (us+euro). Both had the M21 turbo diesel. They also now make the x5ed which has a twin sequential six cylinder diesel turbo motor. it's excellent technology
