Exclamation 2004 x5 4.4 start engine takes 30 seconds

I'm new to the forums! I've been lurking here for a while but didn't register until today!

I wanted to ask your expert opinions or advice on how to handle my situation.
The truck can't seem to start until 30 seconds later, the dealer has checked it out and ordered a new key. They've claimed the key I dropped caused the malfunction. There goes that theory; I tried my spare key and it does the same thing.

It takes 30 seconds or so to start the truck, and I smell gasoline! After it starts, the engine feels shaky however, after it warms up its perfectly fine. This often happens from a cold start only.

Does anyone have any advice? I would very much appreciate it.

Turn the key all the way on- but do not crank the engine. Listen for the fuel pump. It should run for about 2 seconds. Turn the key all the way off and then all the way back on again. Again, listen for the fuel pump. Repeat this 5 times and then crank the engine. If it starts right away, then you have a fuel system pressure decay leak. Letting the fuel pump cycle 5 times re-pressurized the system. If the car still takes 30 seconds to start, then the problem lies elsewhere.
